YSL lipsticks have always captured my heart all too well. Years ago, when I was a broke student, I would regularly stop by our local counter just to swatch each shade longingly. With an NZ RRP of $65, my purchases from the range have been widely spaced but chosen with much deliberation and care. I'm wondering whether the original formula is on its way out now, actually as I couldn't find the regular Rouge Voluptes on the Farmers or Smith & Caughey's websites, although a smattering of shades are still on the Sephora and US YSL Beauty websites. If they are on the chopping block *sob* I highly recommend picking up at least one before it's too late.
Formula overview:
The Rouge Volupte formula is richly pigmented, glossy and hydrating so it's no wonder it's been a firm favourite with YSL fans since it launched! They have a lot of slip which may or may not bother you - as a regular wearer of matte formulas I initially found the slippery feeling a little strange, but you soon get used to it. It feels like you're wearing an intensely pigmented lip balm! The Rouge Voluptes have a mango fragrance which people seem to either love or hate (I love it, personally). Wear time varies depending on the colour, with lighter shades lasting around four hours on me and brighter or darker hues lasting around six.

Nude Beige
Nude Beige is a pale peachy nude with lovely colour payoff. It applies evenly but the slippery formula makes it prone to forming demarcation lines when you press your lips together. It's something I can put up with because I love the colour and the hydrating, comfortable formula but your mileage may vary! Nude Beige wears for four hours on me.
Peach Passion
Peach Passion is a soft peachy coral. It has excellent colour payoff and feels just as comfortable on the lips as Nude Beige. It lasts for four hours on me and stains lightly. Apparently, this is one of Chloe Morello's favourite shades!
What I liked:
- Great pigmentation
- Comfortable, hydrating formula
- Wears for four hours
What I didn't like:
- The slippery formula can cause some lines to form during wear
