Awhile back I found myself perusing the then-new arrivals at our local Essence stand and couldn't resist picking up a few things, especially when I spotted the Shape Your Face Contouring Palette. A contour kit with a blush included for $8.90NZD? Uh, gimme! Followers of my Instagram may have noticed that I've been thrashing this little palette ever since. The quality is astounding for the price and the size of the palette is ideal for chucking in my makeup bag.
Overseas there's a second colourway for this palette called Ready, Set, Pink! which we didn't get here but I'm pretty happy with the one we did get, which is Ready, Set, Peach!. I'm more of a coral girl anyway!
The pan sizes in this palette are very generous and there's a handy guide on the back of the palette showing you the different colour placements to get a perfectly contoured look. Some people may be bothered by the lack of mirror, but as I usually apply my makeup in front of a mirror at home, or in the car with the aid of the sun visor mirror, this isn't an issue for me.
Ready, Set, Peach! contains three shades: a warm bronzer for contouring, a matte ivory highlighter and a coral blush with gold shimmer. All have great colour payoff and a soft and blendable texture. Although the contour powder is fairly warm as far as contour shades go, I've still been enjoying it and using it often. I don't typically wear a matte highlight, but it's great for blending underneath the contour shade to soften any harshness. As for the blush, it's wonderful, especially for the price! The sheen gives a lovely natural glow and I love the colour. The palette lasts eleven to twelve hours on me.
Here I'm wearing all three shades from Ready, Set, Peach! - the blush, the contour powder, and the matte highlight above and below the contour powder to help blend it out. I also used MAC Snowglobe Beauty Powder to highlight and topped it with Darling Girl Liquid Stardust in Thin White Duke.
