Oh, MAC Heatherette. Although MAC have brought out many collections with amazing packaging since this collection launched in 2008, none have ever been as flamboyant or downright fabulous as Heatherette. Launched in collaboration with the now defunct fashion house of the same name, the collection featured lipsticks, eyeshadows, beauty powders, pigments and more in pops of pink, palest nude, shimmering coral, sky blue and smoky accents. I've owned a few pieces in the past and as always with these nostalgic old collections, there's more I'd love to find!
I actually had both of these lipsticks years ago when I was pregnant with Noel, my oldest, and destashed heaps of stuff while convinced I'd never have time for makeup again. Five years and a beauty blog later, you can see how that played out! I always regretted letting these go and last year I was thrilled to find both of them for really reasonable prices - even used, they can fetch eye-watering amounts with collectors!
That holographic print! *swoons* It's held up very well over the years, too - this collection is now eight years old and while my Lollipop Loving has some colour fading to the tube, the printing is all still pristine.
Formula overview:
There were four lipsticks in this collection: Melrose Mood (clean pastel pink Amplified), Fleshpot (light neutral beige Satin, repromote from permanent range), Lollipop Loving (Glaze) and Hollywood Nights (Satin). Satins sit right in between Amplifieds and Mattes, with strong colour payoff and slight sheen and are typically quite long wearing with minimal to no feathering. MAC don't seem to release Glazes very often, but they're sheer, more slippery and hydrating than Frosts but generally have more sparkle content than Lustres. There used to be more Glazes in the permanent line but they have been gradually phased out in recent years, Hot Tahiti, Pervette and Hues are the only ones left! MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.

Lollipop Loving
Lollipop Loving is described as a 'clean mid-tone coral with subtle green iridescence' and has a Glaze finish. It applies smoothly and evenly with semi-opaque colour coverage and wore for four hours on me, during which it was neither hydrating nor drying. The green-gold sheen adds such a gorgeous twist to an otherwise conventional shade, the closest thing I've seen since is Darling Girl's Tickled Pink Balm Gloss (which is a gloss, not a lipstick and has sparkles instead of frosty sheen).
This colour was also rereleased in the 2009 Sugarsweet collection.
Hollywood Nights
Hollywood Nights is described as a 'clean fuchsia pink' in a Satin finish. I mean, technically, it's not that unique - but LOOK at it. Isn't it beautiful?! I'm so, so glad I found this one again. The formula is stellar; opaque and creamy in one pass and it wears for six hours without feathering. It's not drying and stains lightly. I hope MAC bring this back one day.
What I liked:
