But I have suggested alternative combinations to obtain similar effects for some of them from Notoriously Morbid's permanent range of Mystic Mattes and Changeling top coats, so that's something, right?
These liquid mattes are among the easiest I've used to date, with a thin but easy to control formula and great opacity. Most are opaque in one coat, though they can be layered easily if needed and will not clump, streak or stick to themselves. There's no need to keep your lips parted while they dry, as many formulas require, because of the non-tackiness and fairly quick dry-down, yet they never fully set to a transfer resistant state. You'll still get transfer with the Mystic Mattes, although obviously less than a creamy lipstick, and they tend to wear away evenly like a regular lipstick, instead of mostly in the centre, as I often experience with liquid mattes.
Some shades are drying but most are more clingy than anything. I did not experience any feathering or bleeding with any of them, they can be smudged if touched or smeared, but will not otherwise migrate. They have a faintly sweet scent.
Because these Mystic Mattes were all purchased last year they are in the old packaging (you can see the new tubes in my review of the Bewitching Blooms Mystic Matte collection), with the exception of Hello My Name Is Trash Boat, which is a GWP mini tube. The old packaging was a gradually tapering tube with a slim, angled doefoot applicator.

Red Death
Red Death is a deep berry-toned red with lots of crimson sparkle. It came out with the 2015 Halloween collection 'An Evening with Mr Price' which was inspired by Vincent Price's classic horror movies. This red is everything. It's so rich and velvety with excellent colour pay off, and then coupled with that sparkle.... *happy sigh* The base colour is very opaque, so to get the sparkle showing to best effect, just press your lips together a few times once the lipstick is set. Red Death lasted five hours on me and wasn't drying.
There isn't a permanent Mystic Matte in the same shade of red, but you could possibly obtain a similar effect by mixing Sanguine Addiction with a touch of Lilith and topping it with Kitsune Changeling top coat.
Ruiner
Ruiner is a dark chocolatey brown (the full face picture shows the darkness more accurately) which was originally released as part of a Nine Inch Nails Tribute Trio called 'Down the Spiral', in itself a collaboration with Biohazardous Beauty. I wasn't sure whether I'd like it on me, but it was just too cool and different to resist - and I wound up loving it! A girl can never have enough vampy lipsticks, am I right? :D Ruiner lasted for a little under five and a half hours and was slightly clingy, but not drying.
There's no equivalent shade in the current Mystic Matte line up, but fingers crossed Carrie brings out something similar one day!
Do You Fear What I Fear?
Do You Fear What I Fear? is a rich burnt orange with green sheen. As with Red Death, the base colour can dominate the shimmer because it's so pigmented, so for maximum sparkle you should press your lips together a few times once the lipstick has been allowed a few minutes to set. It wore for six hours altogether on me and wasn't drying. I wore this for Noel's 5th birthday party this year, I loved the added interest of the green shimmer (plus it held up very well through copious amounts of party food, LOL).
Do You Fear What I Fear? was one of two Mystic Mattes in the limited edition Killer Carols duo last Christmas so is no longer available, but the base colour is similar to the permanent shade Doppelganger. Combined with a Changeling top coat, such as Leshy, I think you could get a similar look.
Silent Fright
Silent Fright is a metallic emerald green in a blackened navy base. I don't reach for it often, but boy, when I do, it's so gorgeous and eye catching! I just love it. The metallic finish means that the base colour is by necessity a little sheerer to allow the sparkle to show, so I need two layers for fully opaque coverage. The formula responds to being layered very well though, you won't find it thickening or clumping with the additional layer, or the dreaded disturbance of the layer below rendering your additional coverage attempts pointless! Silent Fright wore for five hours on me and was slightly drying.
Silent Fright was part of last year's limited edition Killer Carols Christmas duo and there's no word on a potential return, but I bet the recently launched permanent shade Wiccan Friend (a dark emerald green) could be used with one of the Changeling top coats (Siren, perhaps?) to create a similar effect.
Soothsayer
Soothsayer (Formerly known as Hello My Name Is Trash Boat) is described as a 'cool toned rosy brown', similar to ever popular shades like Lime Crime Cashmere and ColourPop Tootsi, although a smidgen darker, and in the case of Cashmere, Soothsayer boasts a better application. Soothsayer initially launched as an exclusive Black Friday 2015 gift with purchase under the name 'Hello My Name Is Trash Boat' but proved so popular that it returned as a permanent fixture of the Mystic Matte range in February of this year. Soothsayer applies evenly with excellent colour coverage and lasts for seven and a half hours on me without being drying.
What I liked:
- Excellent colour pay off
- Wear time ranges from five to seven and a half hours
- Red Death, Ruiner, Do You Fear What I Fear? and Soothsayer were not drying
- No feathering or migration
What I didn't like:
- Silent Fright was slightly drying
- Ruiner was a bit clingy
