Notoriously Morbid December 2016 Vanishing Cabinet Swatches & Review

This will likely be the last in the current influx of Vanishing Cabinet catch up posts as the January 2017 one has me stumped - so many blues! I'll get there, though. The challenge is good for me, which is why I love subscribing to the Vanishing Cabinet. I had to cancel my subscription briefly and just buy trials or overstock when available, so my December 2016 VC is incomplete. There was also a Slumber Salve called 'Yum Yum' and in the original VC, the Body Splash was a trial vial.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't seen Gremlins (another for the 'to watch' list!). I remember studying the video cover avidly when we'd go to the video store as children, but my mum always said it was too scary so I never got around to it! Mike has just assured me it is definitely too scary for our kids, so maybe it's still too scary for me, lol (I'm the biggest wimp around).

About the subscription:
The Vanishing Cabinet is a monthly subscription service from US-based indie brand Notoriously Morbid. The amount of products included seems to vary, but there are typically three to four products in each and occasionally six in special VCs. It's $13.25USD within the US and $20USD for international (including shipping), so a very reasonable monthly treat! You can sign up for the wait list here or purchase a one month trial (while available) here. Overstock is occasionally posted here.

All eyeshadow swatches are applied to bare skin (on the left) and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (on the right) using a patting motion and photographed under daylight bulbs.

The Creatures (vegan) is a medium metallic green with purple sparkles. It's a super fun shade and I love how vibrant it is, especially over a base (although it held up well alone, as shown on the lower lashline in the look below).

For this look, I've used Timeshift on the inner third of the lid (over a sticky base) & on the inner corner (without a base), Use Your Magick on the centre of the lid, The Creatures on the outer third of the lid and lower lashline, Mayor Monster on the crease and She's Got Gidget Hair for the transition. The lashes are Ardell Wispies.

Bright Lights! Bright Lights! (vegan) is a medium bronze with fine purple shimmer and larger gold sparkles. Classic NM blingy warm neutral and I unabashedly love it! It benefitted from a sticky base, as you might expect with all of that sparkle, and applied and blended well.

For this look, I've used Bright Lights, Bright Lights! on the lid, Gleaming on the crease, Gypsy Curse to deepen the crease, He's Going Through Changes for the transition, It's the White Hats on the browbone and inner corner, Bloody Baron on the outer half of the lower lashline and Fat Friar on the inner half of the lower lashline. The lashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.

Trouble Multiplied

Notoriously Morbid Trouble Multiplied Body Splash Review

Notoriously Morbid give the following scent description for Trouble Multiplied: 'starts off as an ozone fresh scent, then has notes of mandarin spice, clementine, bergamot, and sugar.' This is a very accurate scent description. The spice is very understated and the freshness of the citrus and bergamot come through clearly without being an overtly citrus fragrance. It's the sugar muting the citrus, I think - you can smell the sweetness but not in a saccharine way. Sorry, I'm rubbish at describing scents but I do like this. It isn't a fragrance I think I would reach for often but it's certainly piqued my interest for any other Body Splashes that Notoriously Morbid release. If you like the sound of Trouble Multiplied, it's part of the permanent range, along with a body lotion that shares the same scent.

What do you think of this VC?
