Darling Girl do some amazing neutrals and longtime readers will know that they are among my favourites, especially when it comes to complex neutrals (duochrome, sparkle, oh my!). This post is comprised of a few sparkly neutrals from the permanent range, one discontinued shade and a bright pop of green. Take a look!
Darling Girl's eyeshadows come in a few different sizing options: full sizes are packaged in 5g jars with approximately 3/4 tsp of product ($7.50USD). Petits are packaged in 3g jars with approximately 1/4 tsp of product ($3.50USD).
Formula overview:
Darling Girl's eyeshadow formula is incredibly consistent. I've never come across a dud in the range; they are, on the whole, very pigmented and easy to work with. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.
Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left-hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

Nothing Else Matters
Nothing Else Matters (permanent), is described as 'a taupe base with orange shift and lots of gold reflect'. The dirty taupe base is in an intriguing contrast to the fiery gold shimmer in this one. I found it to be pretty sheer without a base and wouldn't recommend skipping one but it is nice and blendable.
Gryla
For this look, I've used Nothing Else Matters on the inner third of the lid, Gryla on the middle third/lower lashline, Adorned on the outer third/lower lashline, Kilt-Y Pleasures on the crease, #breaktheinternet for the transition and Crave on the inner corner. The lashes are Ebay faux mink in the style A01..
Los Angelitos
Los Angelitos (permanent, vegan) is described as a 'creamy ivory with rainbow sparkle'. As you have likely gleaned from the jar, my Los Angelitos is very old and I believe it has been reformulated since this iteration to have more rainbow sparkles. I must remember to order it again soon to compare the two - that would be more helpful than my rambling, wouldn't it? 😂I can say that my version, at least, is absolutely lovely. It's easy to blend and applies evenly whether alone or with the benefit of a sticky base. I've been using it alone a lot on the inner corner, allowing the sparkle to twinkle in a subtle way.
Jeweled Taupe
Jeweled Taupe (permanent) is described as a 'metallic, bronzey taupe with multi-colored shimmer like tiny little jewels ribboned through it'. Probably one of Darling Girl's most glittery eyeshadows outside of the Diamond Dust range, Jeweled Taupe is spectacularly sparkly. You'll definitely want an adhesive base to display it in all its glory. So glad I finally crossed this DG classic off my wishlist!
For this look, I've used Jeweled Taupe on the lid, Los Angelitos on the inner corner, #breaktheinternet on the crease and lower lashline, Paddle Me for the transition, Kilt-Y Pleasures to deepen the crease and outer lower lashline and We're Not Sheep on the browbone. The lashes are Ebay faux mink in the style A12.
Go, Go Godzilla
Go, Go Godzilla is described as a 'slightly bluish green with a shift from brilliant bright green to gold and color shifting aqua sparkles'. This insanely vibrant green makes my heart sing! It applies best over a sticky base but I think you'll agree the minimal effort is moe than worth it. I found it easy to blend, too.
This look uses Go Go Godzilla on the lid, Emerald City on the outer V and lower lashline, Bottoms Up on the crease, Sexy Sinnamon for the transition, Hope Diamond Dust on the inner corner and Dragon's Breath Diamond Dust foiled with Superstar Serum for liner. The lashes are Ardell Wispies.
