I have a bit of a swatch dump of discontinued ColourPop Lippie Stix to share today! As any ColourPop fan knows, they are quite trigger-happy with their discontinuations but they bring back old shades with an almost equal frequency. In fact, while I was double-checking the status of all these shades on the website, I saw that the long-discontinued Brills (reviewed here) had made a return! So take a peek at these and if any tickle your fancy, cross your fingers - you just never know.
The packaging for the Lippie Stix is a glossy white twist up slim tube with a slanted lip bullet. I really like the smaller surface area of this lipstick style as it allows more precision than your traditional larger teardrop shaped bullet. Each lipstick has a coloured end cap which matches the colour inside as well as a label with the name and finish.
Formula Overview:
The shades I have to show you today are a mixture of Matte X, Matte and Satin. All are richly pigmented and comfortable on the lips, I only found one of them drying. The Matte X has a velvety, powdery feeling, while the Mattes and Satins glide on and settle to a lightweight finish.
Lippie Stix have a chocolate chip cookie scent (to my nose) - yum!
Hype Girl
Hype Girl is described as a 'soft coral nude' and has a Matte finish. I was really sad to see ColourPop discontinue this as it really is the perfect middle ground between coral and nude! It's quite a forgiving shade for a matte and the pigmentation is stellar. Hype Girl lasted five hours on me and wasn't drying.
Jenneration X is described as 'A bright true orange with a hint of red in a matte X finish'. This is the kind of orange that makes my heart sing! The colour payoff is incredible, the Matte X texture is buttery and smooth and the weartime is nothing to be sniffed at, lasting six and a half hours without being drying. Jenneration X was part of the Jenn Im collection.
Deja is a warm peachy-nude with a Matte finish. I haven't been able to find much mention of Deja (it gets lost among search results for Deja Vu Blotted Lip on Google) but I believe it was part of ColourPop's original Lippie Stix lineup. I quite like it, it's a little more orange-tinted than I usually like my nudes but that makes it unique. Deja lasted four hours on me and was lightly drying during that time.
Rocket is described as 'soft bright pinky coral' and has a Satin finish. There's nothing soft about this shade, ColourPop! Rocket is almost neon in its brightness, a coral to light up the night. Unsurprisingly, I LOVE IT. So so glad I managed to get my hands on it! Rocket lasted six hours on me and wasn't drying.
Fetch is described as 'a perfect mid-tone warm pink' and has a Satin finish. It glides on smoothly with full colour coverage and lasts five hours on me without being drying. However, it does leave behind strong pink staining which is a touch annoying!
Silk is described as a 'rich deepened burgundy' and has a Matte finish. Silk has more slip and shine than most of ColourPop's Mattes, I honestly thought it was a Satin! It's also a touch more translucent than their Matte formula usually runs, not in a bad way - it gives Silk a delicious, juicy look - but it's a deviation from the standard formula, so worth mentioning. For all that it puzzles me, I do really like Silk. It lasted six hours on me and didn't dry out my lips or feather. Silk was part of the Holiday 2015 collection.
- Excellent colour payoff
- All except Deja were non-drying
- None of them feathered
- Wear-time was between four and six and a half hours
- Deja was lightly drying
- Fetch stains hot pink
Have you got any of these in your collection? Are there any you wish ColourPop would bring back?
