Femme Fatale's newest collection, based on Anne of Green Gables has just launched today and as luck would have it, the team generously sent me the full collection to swatch for you (thanks guys!). The enthusiastic responses to news of this collection on social media were really lovely, so many of you fondly remembered the Anne books. I know I read one or two of them as a child but my memory of their contents seems to have vanished completely! As copyright has long since lapsed for these books though, I've downloaded free ebooks of the series and am looking forward to diving in. Have you read them?
The presale for this collection will be April 1st – 5th 2018 at 9am AEST.
Swatch Notes:
I do not use base coat for my swatches but I did use a top coat as many of the glitterbombs in particular dry with a fair bit of texture. Everything was photographed using a three-point lighting set up under daylight bulbs.
My Lifelong Sorrow
Femme Fatale - My Lifelong Sorrow, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
My Lifelong Sorrow ($13AUD) For those of you who are fans of Anne, you will know we could not resist one polish based on her ever-so-detested orange locks. A pale champagne pink with golden glow (warm) through to a bolder orange with golden glow (cold).
What better colour to start with? Poor Anne, I don't remember enough of the books to know whether she ever learned to love her fiery locks but I hope so! This crelly's formula is wonderful and the shade of orange is cheerful and very wearable. I'll definitely be pulling it out again in the warmer months.
Trees Talking In Their Sleep
Femme Fatale - Trees Talking in Their Sleep, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
Trees Talking in Their Sleep ($13AUD) A soft brown (cold) to clear (warm) thermal packed with an ethereal emerald green glow and luminescent green-blue shifting flakes.
Ohhhhh, Femme Fatale do thermals well, don't they? My hands were evidently both warm and short when I swatched this so the colour change isn't shown off to its full extent but you can see hints of the soft brown change at my nail tips. The flakies enhance the green shimmer perfectly.
White Way of Delight
Femme Fatale - White Way of Delight, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
White Way of Delight ($13AUD) A stunning off-white crelly base with soft copper glow, filled with white and silver holographic glitters of various sizes and holographic particles.
This is pretty darn good for a white crelly, it built up to opacity in three coats but could have been worn more sheerly at two coats. The copper glow is more visible in person but stubborn about presenting itself on camera, check out the fourth and fifth shots to see it in all its beauty.
A Kindred Spirit
Femme Fatale - A Kindred Spirit, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
A Kindred Spirit ($13AUD) An oddly flattering cool-tone dusty-rose pink with blue glow and holographic particles.
This nail polish is a perfect match for one of my own kindred spirits, Danielle (@delindeldani) and anyone else who loves a complex neutral. I've been reaching for neutrals often lately myself, the blue glow in this makes it an instant winner.
This Freckled Witch
Femme Fatale - This Freckled Witch, 2 coats + Essie Good To Go
This Freckled Witch ($13AUD) A red to greeny-copper multichrome packed with silver holographic glitters and holographic particles.
Whoa, mama. This. Are you seeing this? This is what multichrome dreams are made of. I couldn't stop snapping pictures of the colour shift to This Freckled Witch and believe me, it was hard to narrow down the number of pictures of it in this post. Opaque in two easy coats and finished with top coat to enclose the generous sprinkling of holo glitter, it's a stand out in this collection for me.
Woodsy, Wild & Lonesome
Femme Fatale - Woodsy, Wild & Lonesome, 2 coats + Essie Good To Go
Woodsy, Wild & Lonesome ($13AUD) A deep aubergine purple base with a quirky olive-blue shifting multichrome, packed with silver holographic microglitter and holographic particles
I'm really enjoying how deliciously moody this polish is, it perfectly encapsulates its namesake. It dries with slight texture due to the microglitter so I've finished it with top coat.
Currant Wine
Femme Fatale - Currant Wine, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
Currant Wine ($11.50AUD) A gorgeous berry crème with blue glow.
I'm not sure if it was some leftover nail polish remover left on my nails messing with things, but I struggled to get an even first layer of Currant Wine and it took a little fussing to even it out after that. Currant Wine dries semi-matte, so I used a top coat per Femme Fatale's recommendation. The top coat really highlights the pretty blue shimmer.
Lake of Shining Waters
Femme Fatale - Lake of Shining Waters, 3 coats + Essie Good To Go
Lake of Shining Waters ($13AUD) A vibrant bright blue packed with green-purple shifting duochrome shimmers and scattered holographic particles
Another personal favourite from this collection, Lake of Shining Waters is vibrancy itself! I don't recall seeing such a vivid shade of blue from Femme Fatale in a long while. It does lend itself to staining (I noticed this more on my cuticles during removal than on the nail bed) so be sure to use a base coat.Femme Fatale ships nail polish worldwide from femmefatalecosmetics.com.au; starting from $7 to the USA, $14.50 to Canada and $20 internationally. These will be re-released in further presales and will also be available from stockists soon.
How are you liking this collection? Do you have any favourites? My top three are Lake of Shining Waters, This Freckled Witch and Trees Talking In Their Sleep but it was a hard choice! So many beauties in this collection.
