MAC Monday: Philip Treacy Lipsticks - No Faux Pas, Hollywood Cerise and Cardinal Swatches & Review

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

I hope you've had a good weekend! We had Noel's 4th birthday party on Sunday which was a blast but we are pretty shattered now from all the prep and party food induced sugar crashes :D
I have the three lipsticks from the recent Philip Treacy collection to show you today. They are all sold out at the Wellington MAC counter but (surprisingly!), Hollywood Cerise and Cardinal are both still in stock on the US MAC website. This collection has standard packaging, but No Faux Pas is a repromote from last year's holiday collection, Heirloom Mix, so I've reused my images from my original review, which you can read here. Hence why you'll see the sparkly Heirloom Mix tube first - sorry for any disappointment that may cause packaging junkies!

No sheers here! The Philip Treacy lipsticks are bright and bold with varying textures. No Faux Pas is a matte while Hollywood Cerise and Cardinal are both satins. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.

No Faux Pas is a hot pink with a Matte finish. It applies smoothly, doesn't emphasise flaws and lasts for a solid six hours on me, but I did find it to be slightly drying after an hour and a half. It wasn't drying enough to be uncomfortable though, I just tend to be on hyper-alert for that sort of thing when testing wear! This shade has fantastic colour pay off and leaves behind a strong pink stain. It doesn't feather or migrate either.

Hollywood Cerise is a darkened fuchsia with a satin finish. It's like the grown up version of Lime Crime Centrifuchsia (one of my all time favourite lipsticks)! Colour pay off was smooth, even and very opaque. I got just under five hours of wear (including a meal) without any drying or feathering issues. There was a medium amount of pink staining.

Cardinal is a satin neutral red that's a little darker than your classic hollywood red. It has lovely, even colour off with a slight translucency during initial application that I think would lend itself well to sheering out for a stained or gradient effect. Cardinal lasted for six hours on me without being drying or feathering and had some light staining.

What I liked:
  • Wear time for all shades is between five and six hours
  • Great colour pay off
  • All shades apply very smoothly
  • Hollywood Cerise and Cardinal are not drying
  • No feathering or migration
What I didn't like:
  • No Faux Pas is minimally drying after an hour and a half
