Born Pretty Store sent me these cute little lippy pots recently and I'm ready to review them for you today! Fair warning, this is going to be a somewhat confusing review for a few reasons...
Firstly, I'm not really sure whether to call these lip gloss or lipsticks and apparently Born Pretty Store aren't either - their website lists them as 'Sexy Red Lip Gloss Round Box Natural Ingredients Moisturizing Lasting Lip Stick 9 Colors' and 'Red Purple Gothic Lip Gloss Sexy Dark Color Smooth Lip Stick For Cosplay Party 9 Colors'. Semi glossy lipsticks, I suppose. They come in small screw top clear jars with black caps and have an acrid floral scent.
Now, despite looking, smelling and applying identically, these are separate products. The red #8 retails for $2.28USD (currently on sale for $1.09) and the orange #8 retails for $2.13USD (currently on sale for $1.60). Oh yeah, and they're both called shade #8. Confused? Me too. Let's look at swatches.

Shade #8 is a yellow based orange with a semi-glossy finish and medium colour pay off. It's a bit streaky but workable and wears for just over three hours. I found it a bit drying toward the end of wear and was quite faded. I think it'd be a great alternative to Lime Crime My Beautiful Rocket if you're looking for a yellow based orange.
The second Shade #8 (red) is a strawberry pinky red with buildable but still semi-sheer colour pay off. It has more even colour pay off than the orange shade but retains a translucency that makes it look lovely and juicy. On me it lasts for just over two hours and wasn't drying.
What I liked:
- Red has lovely, even colour payoff
- Budget friendly
- Red was not drying
What I didn't like:
- Orange is a bit drying
- Wear for two to three hours
- Orange is slightly streaky
- Acrid floral scent
