I'm soooo behind on my Viva Glam lippies, you guys - it feels like the Ariana Grande ones only just came out and now this Taraji P. Henson collaboration is done and dusted, with Sia being the latest to partner up. Evidently, I've been living under a rock, as it gave me such a surprise to see the Sia display at my local MAC counter the other week. It looks like a lovely red but for today, let's take a peek at the first of Taraji P. Henson's two Viva Glam releases. This vivid pink was released in February 2017 and was followed up by a rich bronze, Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2.
In case you've also been living under a rock and haven't heard of Viva Glam, it's a programme that MAC has built to support those with AIDS/HIV. What I really like about it is that it's not just a percentage of proceeds or profits that goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund - it's every single cent of every Viva Glam product sale. In addition to the limited edition shades MAC release bi-annually with celebrity spokespeople, MAC also has a permanent lineup of six other Viva Glam shades. I love the packaging for Taraji's lipsticks, although let's be honest, hot pink will always win me over! The matte pink tube pairs well with the traditional metallic pink twist-up mechanism that the Viva Glam range always bears.
Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson is described as a 'matte fuchsia with pearl' and has a Matte finish. I must say, I am enjoying how MAC has been peppering their new releases with the occasional frosted matte in recent years. Keep 'em coming! Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson is a powerhouse fuchsia, uninhibited in its saturation and bold matte finish. The pearl is subtle but it's there, giving the pink just a little more dimension than your standard matte. It lasted seven hours on me without being drying or straying outside the lip line, which always puts a lipstick in my good books. It does leave a hot pink stain in its wake, which is slightly pesky but not a personal dealbreaker.
