Here's a wee birthday indulgence! I hurried down to my local MAC counter last week to pick up Freshen Up High-Light Powder on the Wash & Dry collection's launch date. I checked in with the Wellington counter before posting this review and unfortunately it is sold out there now but they still have some other goodies from this collection on counter. I'll pop some links to go a-hunting at the end of the post as usual too. Don't give up hope, keep the dream alive! :D
The packaging for this collection is too gorgeous to resist, a glossy gradient of teal, orange, yellow and chartreuse. I was pretty restrained by picking up just two items from this collection, the Freshen Up powder and Steam Heat lipstick which is still on its way to me.
Freshen-Up comes in a large compact with a clear insert in the lid. It's the same size as MAC's bronzers and beauty powders, larger than a blush.

Freshen Up is made up of three colour sections - coral, peachy orange and a soft golden tan. Layered over all of it is a gold overspray which quickly sweeps away as you begin to use it. I swept some away to do the arm swatches and some of the gold remained in the crevices but after swirling my brush over it to apply to my cheeks it's pretty much gone from that section. There is still some shimmer to the colours beneath the overspray so don't fear that you're losing all that pretty glow!
Although billed as a 'high-light powder', I see it being more of a blush in most cases. This isn't the first time MAC has called a super pigmented (and not massively shimmery) product a high-light powder, the legendary Marine Life from To the Beach (2010) was also labelled as such and I've always used that as a blush. Freshen Up has a buildable formula and the level of colour pay off you get really depends on where and how much you swirl your brush. I could feasibly use the two lighter sections as a highlight by concentrating my brush there, but most of the time I choose to focus my brush on the deeper coral strip (because coral). With its buildable and ultra blendable nature, I suspect Freshen Up would be hard to over-do.
Wear time was pretty good, lasting for eight hours. After that most of the colour was faded but some shimmer remained. Speaking of shimmer, it's the kind that imparts a soft glow, no emphasised pores here!

- Doesn't emphasise pores or uneven skin texture
What I didn't like:
- Overspray disappears quickly
