Born Pretty Store Blink Fashion Lashes #3 Review

Hey lovelies,

These false eyelashes have me in a bit of a moral quandary. You'd be forgiven for assuming these false eyelashes are by Ardell from the picture but that's not the case. On Bretty Pretty Store's weebsite you can see packaging similarities, right down to the graphics used - and I saw that and still chose them for review, but now I find myself annoyed that the packaging is pretending to be something it's not. Why? Why did I register only slight disapproval when it looked like but didn't say Ardell and go for it anyway, and why do I feel more affronted now that it does in fact say Ardell? After all I own unbranded brush dupes (of the MAC #217 and NARS Yachiyo respectively) purchased from Ebay, but they bear no labels, make no mention of the brands copied. Somehow, my brain says they are okay because they're not pretending to be the copied brand.
Born Pretty Store are careful not to mention Ardell or include their logo in the product listing, so these lashes felt like they could sneak by my moral compass on that same technicality, and seeing the label feels confrontational. I can no longer pretend they are only a lookalike rather than a copy. This is all very rambly and you might be thinking 'settle down woman, they're only false eyelashes' and you'd be right... but I can't review these without addressing the packaging and it's the packaging that isn't making me feel, in a moral sense, very good. What are your thoughts? Do replica products bother you? What do you think of unbranded dupes?

Moving on to the review because that is, after all, why we're here - the Blink lashes come in four different styles, all numbered. I have style #3. They look similar in shaping, density and length to the Ardell #117 lash, being flared and quite long. There are lots of lash clusters with minimal overlap, so you get quite a defined and dramatic  effect, rather than the more natural look that lashes with a lot of criss crossing can provide. This style is probably a little but long for my eye shape, although I think it would have been more flattering had I brought my winged liner angle a little higher or forgone the wing entirely.
The lash band is of a pretty good length for my eye shape to begin with, so it didn't require much trimming - always a bonus! And the lash band is flexible and lightweight, so it doesn't feel heavy or stiff (which can irritate my eyes). All in all, these false lashes are of nice quality.... just please, whoever makes these, come up with your own packaging!

  • Lashes are soft and fanned out, not stiff or plastic-y

  • Ripping off Ardell false eyelashes
