Pretty Serious' holiday collections are always pretty darn rocking so I was incredibly thrilled and flattered to be asked to swatch the Ghosts of Christmas Past collection this year! The lineup features two Cocktail Crush topcoats and six nail polishes in a mixture of classic and vintage inspired shades. I think you're going to love it as much as I do, so let's dive in!
Swatches are done without base coat or top coat unless otherwise noted and photographed under daylight bulbs.

Tarnished Tinsel
Pretty Serious - Tarnished Tinsel, 3 coats + top coat
Tarnished Tinsel is a rich yellow-gold glitter with sparse red glitters added in. The base seems a little thicker on this one to suspend the glitter but it was still very easy to work with and built to opacity in three coats. I love how blingy it is! Tarnished Tinsel does dry a little dull and textured on its own so I applied top coat for this swatch.
Velvet Bow
Pretty Serious - Velvet Bow, 2 coats
Velvet Bow is a metallic, glowy red. Like many of Pretty Serious' nail polishes, Velvet Bow is very opaque and smooth, covering in two coats. Love a classic like this!
Jack Frost
Pretty Serious - Jack Frost, 1 coat over Velvet Bow
Jack Frost is an iridescent topper with a mixture of blue to green shifting glitters and finer silvery sparkle. The combination lives up to its name perfectly, creating a beautiful icy effect on whatever you layer it over. I was tempted to go with black or dark green for a base but decided instead to try it over the less obvious choice of Velvet Bow and really enjoyed the contrast.
Very Merry Berry
Pretty Serious - Very Merry Berry, 3 coats
Very Merry Berry is a darkened berry red creme. It applied easily and appeared to be opaque in two coats in person but under my photography lights looked like it needed a third, so your mileage may vary!
Mojito
Pretty Serious - Mojito, 1 coat over Very Merry Berry
Mojito is a sheer green glassfleck Cocktail Crush top coat. It's absolutely loaded with shimmer so can show a little milky over the base colour if you're not careful to keep an even hand during application - you can see a bit of patchiness towards the base of my middle and ring fingernails where I flubbed a little.
Peace On Earth
Pretty Serious - Peace On Earth, 3 coats
Peace On Earth is a pale mint green with strong pink shimmer. It's definitely a 'drop everything and grab it' shade and evidently, a lot of people did as it sold out super fast during the launch of this collection! Don't worry, though, it'll be returning in January and Pretty Serious are even offering their introductory discount on it for those who missed out.
Enchanting Evergreen
Pretty Serious - Enchanting Evergreen, 2 coats
Enchanting Evergreen is a blackened forest green with green and blue shimmer - absolutely divine! The shimmer is strong enough that it doesn't just look black on your nails from a distance and the formula flowed on smoothly, covering in just two coats.
Fairy Lights
Pretty Serious - Fairy Lights, 3 coats
Fairy Lights is a pale grey with pink glassfleck shimmer. It builds up nicely in three coats for a sheer, even and decidedly delicate manicure. Perfect if you prefer wearing softer shades on your nails, I know this is a look that has definitely grown on me in a big way in recent years.
