We've made it to the last gift guide of the year and this one is packed with budget-friendly options - nothing over $20! Beauty products are one of those areas where the old adage 'you get what you pay for' doesn't always ring true. Here are some of my favourite budget-friendly options.
These face palettes from Essence have been fixtures of my makeup bag since I got them; they're amazing quality, especially for the price ($8.90NZD at selected Farmers and Pricewise stores)! There's the Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette, an alternative (not a dupe) to the original Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette or the Shape Your Face Contour Palette, which contains two basic contour shades and a flattering glowy blush. You can find my Luminizer Palette review here and the Contour Palette review here.
ColourPop's range of products is huge, high quality and super well priced, with none of the individual items being over $6USD (ColourPop.com). It's no wonder I can't stop buying from them! Pictured are products from the limited edition Hello Kitty collection, which is around until February and eyeshadows from the Holiday 2016 collection. I've reviewed heaps of ColourPop in the past, so take a look through the ColourPop archive for some shopping inspo.
This mini Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (RRP $6.99NZD at selected pharmacies & supermarkets) would make an adorable and useful stocking stuffer. It's great for gently removing makeup and will suit most skin types. I'm really enjoying both this original version and the new oil-infused version, which is even more effective at removing stubborn makeup formulas (like liquid matte lipsticks!).
These Collection Work the Colour Nail Polishes (RRP $8NZD at Countdown supermarkets) have a wide colour range and you can chuck them in your shopping trolley while doing the groceries! How handy is that? They have decent colour payoff and the on-trend mixture of finishes is impressive - I particularly like the squishy jelly effect of Sonic Blue (far right).
Australis is always good for a well-priced selection of trendy products, with more coming out all the time. The new High Life Illuminating Strobe Powder (RRP $16.99NZD at selected pharmacies, Farmers and Kmart) is super blingy and glittery, making it perfect for anyone who loves to get their sparkle on - it'd be excellent for New Year's! Their Eyegasm Liquid Eyeliners (RRP $14.99NZD) are also packed with shimmery goodness, as they're waterproof metallic versions of the brand's classic liquid eyeliners.
I picked up a bunch of LUSH's 100g Shower Gels (nz.lush.com) to keep under budget with my Christmas shopping this year as they're all between $8.90 and $13.50NZD and the wide variety of scents means there's sure to be something for anyone on your shopping list. Consider The Olive Branch, Dirty Springwash or Lord of Misrule for guys, The Comforter, Snow Fairy (pictured) or Honey I Washed The Kids for anyone with a sweet tooth, Bubbly for citrus lovers and Rose Jam for floral addicts. Of course, the beauty of LUSH is that pretty well everything is unisex and what I've mentioned is merely a starting point! My five-year-old son is an even bigger Lushie than me and would go nuts for any of the above suggestions.
I've been playing with these Designer Brands Eyeshadow Palettes (RRP $12.99NZD each at selected pharmacies) and the pigmentation and eyeshadow texture seriously knocked my socks off! The shade selection is on point, each quad containing four complimentary tones so you can put together a cohesive eyeshadow look with ease.
Have you finished your Christmas shopping or are you still going?
