Here's the next lot of goodies in my recent ColourPop bingeing! In case you haven't heard, they have free international shipping over $50USD until the end of the year, which is basically a death sentence to my wallet (their usually brutal shipping costs have kept me restrained for most of the year!). I picked up some of their new Ultra-Glitter eyeshadows in this order, along with Sunset Blvd from the KaePop (Karrueche Tran collaboration) last call and Muse from the Fall Edit.
ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows have a malleable consistency like wet clay - should you press a finger into the eyeshadow you'll leave a hollow, it doesn't spring back or cling like a mousse, nor does it resist like a cream or powder. And of course, it's endlessly amusing to prod at! Because of the wetness of the formula, it is important to keep the lid tightly shut to prevent the product drying out. Even so, they have a fairly short official shelf life, with ColourPop advising that their eyeshadows will last three years unopened and a year after being opened. I've now had these for over a year and there appears to be no difference in quality than when I first got them, so it seems ColourPop are being pretty conservative.
There are eight different finishes in the SuperShock range: Ultra-Glitter, Glitter Sheer, Satin, Matte, Metallic, Ultra-Metallic, Pearlized and Pressed Pigments; I have a mixture of Ultra-Glitter and Pearlized shades to show you today. The Pearlized finish is very easy to work with - it's shimmery but without the glitter (and associated fallout) of the Metallic or Glitter finishes, while the Ultra-Glitters are exactly what they sound like, tending to have sheerer base colours, presumably to allow more of the glitter to show through.
Almost everything I have tried from ColourPop has had excellent colour payoff, but what really impresses me is how budge-proof they are. They take a few seconds to set and then remain crease proof for the duration of wear - long time readers will know I have ridiculously oily eyelids that laugh in the face of most primers and eyeshadows, so the lasting power on these blew me away. I even put Sequin (reviewed here) on the back of my hand and rubbed at it with my finger once it was set, using increasingly hard pressure, and it didn't smear or fade at all. Pretty much the only transfer was a small amount of glitter on my finger.
Packaging:
ColourPop's eyeshadows come boxed, although I confess to being a little annoyed that they don't have the name printed on them. I am a hoarder of packaging and have taken to storing some items in their boxes but because I can't readily identify the shade from the Super Shock Shadow's outer packaging it's a waste of time in this case.
My moaning aside, the eyeshadows are housed in a glossy white screwtop pot with a holographic logo. ColourPop advises that the jars need to be kept tightly shut to prevent the eyeshadow from drying out.

Sailor
Sailor is described as a 'cool-toned taupe undertone with an opalescent green and teal duo chrome finish sprinkled with green, teal and silver glitter in an Ultra-Glitter finish'. It's a pale, warm tan shade - I'm not seeing any cool tones or taupe in the base colour at all. The colour pay off is semi-opaque, even and is able to be built up to near complete opacity. I think Sailor is my favourite in this order, I LOVE contrasting shimmer, especially in neutrals. It's going to be so versatile for so many makeup looks.
Sunset Blvd
Sunset Blvd (discontinued) is described as a 'warm golden bronze in a Pearlized finish'. It was part of the KaePop collaboration which was discontinued a little while ago. I'm glad I snapped this up before it disappeared (I ordered during the last call for the collection) as it's a very me shade and applies and blends really nicely. It's a fairly dupable colour though, so don't panic if you missed it! Gold from the first LORAC Pro palette is quite close.
Muse
Muse is described as a 'vibrant coppery rose in a Pearlized finish'. Look, I know that ColourPop put out a fair few rose-gold type eyeshadows, but I really do need all of them, okay? Just look at Muse! It's perfection. The ideal level of shimmer, no fallout and super easy to apply and blend. I know I'll get a lot of use out of this one.
Far Side
Far Side is described as a 'deepened bronze undertone sprinkled with lots of gold glitter and subtle pink and silver highlights in an Ultra-Glitter finish'. I'm so stoked with my choice on this one! It reminds me of Australis Jay-Zed, which I loved the colour of but that formula was crease-city on me (read the review here). They're not dupes, but the base colour is similar, I reckon I could approximate a dupe by layering Far Side with one of ColourPop's gold sparkly shades over it. You can see that my blending game wasn't quite on point for the outer V in the look below but where I did blend properly, Far Side worked well and the glitter didn't fallout as much as I expected.
I've used Far Side on the outer half of the lid in this look, with Too Faced Blonde Ambition on the inner half of the lid, ColourPop Lunch Money highlighter on the inner corner and the LORAC Nude Skinny palette for everything else. The lashes are these ones from Born Pretty Store.
Cusp
Cusp is described as a 'bright emerald green infused with tons of turquoise, gold and silver glitter in an Ultra-Glitter finish'. This is such a beautiful shade of green and I love it, but I'm not going to lie, the base colour is quite sheer. It worked best for me when I patted it on with a finger, I was able to achieve even colour payoff and opacity that I was happy with in this way, and the edges were easy to blend out. Fallout wasn't an issue either.
Here I've used Cusp all over the lid, Lunch Money highlighter on the inner corner, Sunset Blvd on the lower lashline, MAC Humid on the crease and the LORAC Pro palette for the rest. The lashes are these ones from Born Pretty Store.
