ColourPop's free international shipping on orders over $50USD promo is almost at an end (ends 31/12/16) and I'm feeling a mixture of relief and sadness at this fact. Okay, the relief is mostly coming from my wallet - I know once the shipping costs revert to their usual brutal prices my orders will be few & far between once again! Before the promo's over, though, I thought I'd share some more reviews in case you're considering making a last minute order. Here are eight examples of one of my faves from ColourPop, their Lippie Stix!
Formula overview:
The Lippie Stix formula seems to be divisive among makeup lovers but personally, on the whole, I really enjoy it. The shades I have to show you today are a mixture of Satin, Matte, Satin Luxe and the newer Matte X finish, so let's break down how they differ:
The Matte X formula feels thicker and is more flat in finish than the regular Mattes. They glide across the lips easily, even if your lips aren't in the best shape and are generally richly pigmented, although the paler shades can be slightly patchier.
Satins and Mattes share the same colour intensity and smooth application as most of ColourPop's finishes but differ slightly in their level of sheen.
In all finishes, some shades can be drying or clingy but I don't find it a drying formula overall.
The Lippie Stix have a gorgeous chocolate chip cookie scent but it's more muted in the Matte X formula; good news for those who dislike scented cosmetics!
The packaging for the Lippie Stix themselves is a glossy white twist up slim tube with a slanted lip bullet. I really like the smaller surface area of this lipstick style as it allows more precision than your traditional larger teardrop shaped bullet. Each lipstick has a coloured end cap which matches the colour inside as well as a label with the name and finish.

She Bad
She Bad is described as a 'light beige nude in a Matte X finish'. I gambled on this one as lighter nudes are always a little intimidating to me but it wound up being a favourite from this order! It's light enough to make it a bit different to other matte nudes in my collection but not so light that it's scary. For such a light shade, it applied very well, with just a touch of patchiness - I'm being nitpicky there, though. She Bad wore for five hours on me and wasn't drying.
Cami
Cami is described as a 'neutral mauve pink in a Matte X finish'. It's a bit of a chameleon and seems to look really nude-ish on some people - even on me, sometimes it looks much darker and other times it's the medium mauve you see in these pictures! You probably need it just to see how it turns out on you, LOL. Cami has great colour payoff and wears for four hours on me, becoming slightly clingy towards the end of wear.
Trixie
Trixie is described as a 'bright coral red with a Satin finish'. Yaaaaaasssss! ColourPop seem to discontinue so many of their corals so I'm stoked to find another one that I love in their permanent line, being the total coral fiend that I am. I wore one of their discontinued ones, Yasmin (reviewed here), to a family wedding recently and my husband's grandmother was so impressed with the wear and colour that she asked me to order her some Lippie Stix too. I'll definitely grab her her own Trixie - she's as into corals as I am! Trixie applies beautifully, lasts for five hours on me without being drying and leaves some staining.

Love Life
Love Life is described as a 'brownish brick red in a Matte X finish'. This comes across as more orangey-red than brick red to me and is a gorgeous option for warm skin tones. Again, super smooth application and great wear time; Love Life lasted six hours on me without being drying but it was a little clingy.
Trust Me...
Trust Me is described as a 'vivid true red in a Matte X finish'. This classic super-matte true red will look great on anyone and it applies so much more easily than others of its ilk, like MAC Ruby Woo (don't worry, Ruby Woo, I'll always love you too). It lasts for six hours on me, isn't drying and doesn't feather. Look no further if you want a reliable classic red!
Boogie
Boogie (discontinued) is described as a 'vibrant violet red with turquoise glitter' and has a Satin Luxe finish. I'm a jerk and thought this shade was still around, hence taking my sweet time reviewing - only to see it was discontinued in August when I went to grab the colour description! Whoops! It was part of last year's holiday collection but stuck around for many months. The Satin Luxe formula is one that I think has only popped up twice (the second shade is Let's Play from the Hello Kitty collection) and it's characterized by the fine glitter that peeks through the base colour. I love the contrast of the turquoise with the violet in Boogie although as you might expect, the base colour is a little sheerer than ColourPop's standard Satin formula to allow the glitter to show. There's a small amount of texture but it doesn't feel gritty on my lips and the wear time is great - seven hours on me with some staining. No sparkle migration, feathering or drying to speak of! We need more Satin Luxes, ColourPop 👐
Nevermind
Nevermind is described as a 'deep blackened violet in a Matte finish'. I actually reswatched this recently because I was unhappy with how the first set of images came out and it was skewing my feelings about the lipstick. I'm so glad I did because I like Nevermind so much more the second time around! Although not perfect in its application, I've yet to find a dark purple that is. It seems to be one of the most difficult pigments to work with, yet Nevermind is more even and easy to work with than the many (much more expensive) dark purple MAC lipsticks I've swatched & destashed lately, so mad props to ColourPop! Nevermind wore for five hours on me and didn't feather or dry out my lips but it did stain strongly.
- Wear time ranged between four and seven hours
- Non-feathering
- Non-drying
- Excellent colour pay off
- Smooth, easy application
- She Bad is very slightly patchy
- Cami and Love Life were somewhat clingy
