Hey lovelies,
I love a great quality budget friendly lipstick and these ELF Matte Lip Colors don't disappoint. I first saw swatches of these on Cassandramyee (an awesome fellow kiwi blogger you should absolutely check out if you haven't already!) and had to give them a shot after Cass's positive review. Let's take a look at the shades I chose!
ELF Matte Lip Colors come boxed in black packaging with colour co-ordinated trim, while the lipsticks themselves are in simple matte black tubes. The end caps match the colour inside, making it easy to tell them apart in a hurry and that end cap actually comes off to reveal a tiny sharpener so you can keep the tip nice and sharp for precise application. You get a decent amount of product in these and the winding mechanism works smoothly. ELF Matte Lip Colors have a faint synthetic 'makeup' scent I don't know quite how to describe! It's not apparent unless I put my nose to the lipstick and really try to smell it.

Coral
Coral is a nude-coral - it's neutral enough to pass for a nude and would go with just about anything. Coral applies with a bit of sheen but becomes more matte after half an hour or so. It can pick up flaws in your lips and is prone to forming lines when your lips are pressed together, so you'll want to make sure your lips are in good condition before applying. Coral wore for four and a half hours and wasn't drying.

Praline
Praline is like the love child of MAC Styled in Sepia and Bad Girl Riri. It's a warm rosy brown which, like Coral, applies with some sheen and becomes more matte over time. Application was great, it applies smoothly with a creamy texture. I'm not really sure that Praline suits me, but I kinda like it anyway! It was minimally drying by the end of its wear time, which was four and a half hours.

What I liked:
- Both shades have great opacity
- Wore for four and a half hours
- Coral wasn't drying
- Neither shade feathers, bleeds or migrates
- Both shades apply smoothly with a creamy texture
What I didn't like:
- Praline was minimally drying toward the end of wear
- Coral can emphasize flaws or form lines
