A new trick, a post by Nick - ZA Men Ultimate Moist Smoothing Cleanser and Hydrating Moisturizer review (part one)

Provided for review

Hey! Nick here! I’m Lani’s younger brother – I’ll be dropping in a few times on Lani Loves over the next month to review ZA Men’s Ultimate Moist Smoothing Cleanser and Hydrating Moisturizer! Not something I’d usually consider doing, but it’s nice to branch out and do something for my sister too. Bear in mind this is all pretty new to me as well, but I’ll do my best not to ramble! Here are some product pictures Lani took.

ZA Men Ultimate Moist Smoothing Cleanser and Hydrating Moisturizer review

Okay, well I try to be pretty honest so basically the big test is for the cleanser and moisturiser to help me with the irritability my skin gets post-shave. Luckily it’s only around my neck that it is irritable – unluckily, I always end up with ingrown hairs. Fun fun fun. Help me ZA please.

So what I use currently is Sukin facial cleanser and moisturiser. I’m also pretty guilty of using it… intermittently. Basically only immediately after I shave. I mean it feels great afterward – smooth and mostly irritation free for a day and a half. But because I don’t use it as a daily wash I can’t compare it fairly to ZA Men’s product, which I will be using daily. I will be able to say whether my face stays hydrated for longer than Sukin (correct lingo, yes? Tell me I’m doing well, please), but mostly I will be judging ZA Men’s based on its own merits.

I’ll come back to you later with some results! But I will talk about the labelling and instructions which… left me a little confused. So the bottles mention a lot that they are an after-shave product, which is fine, but nowhere on the instructions does it clarify on the bottles whether they should be used as daily cleanser and moisturiser or exclusively as after-shave product. Perhaps this is clarified in the packaging of the whole set, though I don’t recall what the packaging said before I recycled it a week ago. Regardless, it seems like something taken for granted that I should inherently know. Small gripe, I know, but I was confused enough to ask Lani about it.

I’ll post again in a week! Seeya!

P.S - I started the trial on the December 12th, but couldn't finish this post until tonight, but here's one day's progress with a photo looks a lot more like I'm posing than trying to show my neck in a photo.

A note from Lani - This set was provided for review, and is a holiday set with a recommended retail price of just $15 at selected pharmacies nationwide, Makeup Direct and Japan Home Mart in Albany, Auckland. The products are also available separately, although you'll save a bit of dosh picking them up in the set. There are also two other sets available to cover different skin types - Ultimate Recharge and Ultimate Matte.
