The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick - Poppy Nude and Poppy Coral Swatches & Review

Recently I've been trying out The Body Shop's Lip & Cheek Velvet Sticks, which were added to their lineup early this year. These handy little sticks offer buildable colour pay off and a light, blendable texture in six shades (including a universal one that adjusts to the pH of your skin for your ideal colour). I love multi-tasking products like these on busy days so was eager to put them to the test!

The Lip & Cheek Velvet Sticks are retractable chubby sticks with a pointed tip. The winding mechanism works perfectly, you don't have to worry about them getting stuck or breaking off if you wind up too much. One thing that annoyed me ever so slightly is that the shade name is on a printed label on the shrink wrap these come in, so as soon as that's removed you're left with just the shade number printed on the bottom of the tube. Both the end-cap and the flower design are coloured to match each shade so it's still super easy to tell them apart, but if you're the kind of person who likes to be able to see the names easily you might get a bit annoyed too.

Formula overview:
The Body Shop promise that the Lip & Cheek Velvet Sticks will 'give your lips and cheeks a naturally flushed glow... Enjoy a colour sensation with an exquisite velvet matte finish'. They're imbued with silica, which gives them that smooth, velvety texture, and marula oil, the latest 'It' oil which is reportedly even more potent than other popular oils like argan and grapeseed.
These apply and blend out really easily with buildable colour pay off and they're especially nice on cheeks. On lips they can emphasise flaws a little, moreso with Poppy Nude as is often the case with shimmery products and they're semi-opaque with even coverage. They have a light rose and geranium scent.

Poppy Coral is a pinky coral which gives a lovely fresh and natural look. On lips, it wore for three hours, while on cheeks it lasted around ten hours.

Poppy Nude is a soft warm peachy brown with very fine, subtle shimmer. It grabbed at uneven texture and lip flakes more than Poppy Coral but this wasn't noticeable from a normal viewing distance. On my lips it wore for three and a half hours, settling into lip lines a bit over time and was slightly drying. On cheeks, it lasted for ten hours.
