Philosophy Amazing Grace - Shimmering Face Powder Swatches & Review

Provided for review

Hey lovelies,

I have another item from my Fresh Beauty haul to show you today - a gorgeous highlighter from Philosophy, their Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder.

I love glowy highlighted cheeks so I'm always keen to check out different highlighters. After much umming and ahhhing over the Fresh site, I settled on this Philosophy one. Philosophy is a brand I've seen mentioned for their bath & body products in fashion magazines for years but had never seen in person, and I wasn't aware they did make-up either.

After a bit of Googling, I discovered that Amazing Grace is a fragrance, and that is what this face powder is scented with. I'm no good at describing fragrances so I've borrowed the Amazing Grace perfume description from the Sephora website:

Amazing Grace fragrance for women is a uniquely feminine blend of soft, floral blossoms accented by a hint of light musk.

The all-enveloping fragrance is delightfully scented and creates a burst of freshness that is reminiscent of soft sea breezes and spellbinding moments. Welcoming bergamot greets the senses, along with pacifying notes of irresistibly soft, clean muguet blossoms, followed by lasting musk with its classic beauty and appeal.

Phew! That's a long description. I do get the floral and musk notes, but it mostly smells a bit dated to me.

The Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder comes in a beautiful mirrored compact. It's got a nice weight to it and closes securely.

I love this message printed on the mirror inside: 'Where there is grace, there is beauty'. So sweet.

Heehee. I told you it was mirrored! Say hello to my roof. This compact will pick up fingerprints like nobody's business... so, you know. Don't go committing any crimes with it.

The colour of the face powder is a pale shimmery pink. The word 'grace' is imprinted in the powder which is a nice touch. I really like the attention to detail that Philosophy have put into this highlighter.

I promise there is product there! Swatched heavily (left) and blended out (right). The pale pink shade is a great match for my pale self, and it's actually very well pigmented. The effect when applied is a soft, subtle glow without emphasising pores. You'd be hard pressed to overdo this product!

Amazing Grace is very easy to apply and blend out. It lasts for 5-6 hours or longer when I use powder. The one thing I'm not mad on is the fragrance, simply because it's not really to my taste. That being said, the fragrance fades after a few hours so it's not a dealbreaker for me. If you're after a long lasting fragrance this may be a dealbreaker for you though!

What I liked:
  • Great colour pay off
  • Wears for 5-6 hours+
  • Highlights without emphasising pores
  • Applies and blends out easily
What I didn't like:
  • The fragrance isn't really to my taste (but you may love it!)
  • Mirrored compact picks up finger prints
