Notoriously Morbid Eyeshadows - Shadow, It's the Riche, Boe, Maple Bacon Bronze and Sister Solstice Swatches & Review

Today I have some more pretty Notoriously Morbid eyeshadows to share with you, and guess what - they're not all warm neutrals! I've been better about experimenting with my stash lately and I've been really liking the results. I hope you do too! Some of these shades are discontinued, while others are permanent, so I'll note their availability with each mini review. First, the general rundown:

Notoriously Morbid have plenty of eyeshadow sizing options to suit everyone's preferences and budget. The mini-size ($2.75USD) has approx. 1/3 tsp of product in a 3g jar, the full size ($5.50USD) has approx. 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of product in a 5g jar and the deluxe size ($7.50USD) has approx. 1 to 1 1/4 tsp of product in a 10g jar. Personally, I always opt for the mini size, except where full size is the only option, as it's rare for me to finish an eyeshadow!

Formula overview:
I really enjoy Notoriously Morbid's eyeshadow formula. They're easy to work with, blend well, and are often completely unique to what's being put out by mainstream brands. Some shades, especially the more glittery ones perform best over a sticky base but can certainly be used on their own.

Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

Shadow

Shadow (permanent) is a soft tan-gold with golden and purple shimmer. Shadow has a great formula that works well with or without a sticky base - it's a highly pigmented sparkler either way, but the complexity shows up more over a base. Very versatile and perfect if you prefer neutrals but like them to be a little more interesting than your run of the mill satin finish. It comes from the Alpha & Omega collection. 

It's the Riche

It's the Riche (discontinued) is a sunny yellow with heavy pink shimmer. There aren't a lot of yellow shades in Notoriously Morbid's arsenal, or my own, so I'm really glad that I picked up It's the Riche before it was discontinued. It's a very cheerful shade with a great formula, the pink sparkles adding further complexity and interest. I do love a good contrasting shimmer!

I've used It's the Riche on the inner third of the lid and inner corner here, with Garmonbozia on the outer two thirds, Shadow on the lower lashline and Logic Boy on the crease. The lashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.

Boe

Boe (discontinued) is a chocolate brown with coppery red sheen and gold sparkles. This was part of a Doctor Who themed collection which is sadly entirely discontinued now, but wasn't it a beauty? It's metallic perfection! I hope Boe makes a reappearance one day, although Notoriously Morbid do have a number of other gems in their range for the warm-neutral lover.  

I've used Boe on the outer half of the lid and lower lashline here, with Only Child on the inner half of lid and lower lashline, Autumn Moon highlighter on the inner corner, Doll's Eye on the crease and He's Going Through Changes for the transition. The lashes are these faux mink ones from Ebay in the style 208.

Maple Bacon Bronze

Maple Bacon Bronze (permanent) is a vibrant copper shimmer. See, I told you there were other warm neutral gems! 😀 Maple Bacon Bronze is a more recent addition to the permanent range and I love it. Green and blue eyed folk will especially enjoy how much this shade makes their eyes pop. Wonderfully pigmented formula, too. 

For this look, I've used .44 Bullet on the outer third of the lid/lower lashline, Maple Bacon Bronze on the centre of the lid, Victorian Gypsy on the inner third of the lid, Gypsy Curse on the crease, He's Going Through Changes for the transition and You Have No Power on the inner corner. The lashes are Cala 1. 

Sister Solstice

Sister Solstice is a lavender with strong golden sheen. Purple lovers (or those wanting to be converted) absolutely need to get their hands on this! The colour payoff is great, as is the formula, and it doubles as an ethereal face highlighter should you so wish. 

Here, I've used Sister Solstice (over a sticky base) on the inner third of the lid and on the inner corner (without a base), It's Not Raining In Here on the centre of the lid, Satan in Heels on the outer third of the lid and on the lower lashline and Logic Boy on the crease. The lashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.

I've also used Sister Solstice as a cheek highlighter, paired with Astrology blush and Giant contour. The lip colour is a limited edition Mystic Matte in the shade Better Not Pout.
