This week's MAC Monday takes us back to the 2012 MAC Ruffian collection! This collection was a small online exclusive, containing three lipsticks and three false nail sets. I only bought Ruffian Red lipstick at the time as I hadn't yet developed a love of pale nudes and didn't think I'd get much use from Ruffian Gold, a frosty sheer gold topper lipstick. Ruffian Naked was an impulse buy a few years later and I've wound up adoring it - go figure! Let's take a look.
The two lipsticks I have from this collection are both in my favourite finish, matte! Mattes are strongly pigmented, smooth in texture and are usually non-drying on my lips. MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent.

Ruffian Naked
Ruffian Naked is described as a 'pale peachy nude' with a Matte finish. MAC have released many similar pale nudes over the years (Strip Poker, Fleshpot and Myth all spring to mind) but Ruffian Naked is my favourite on my skin tone as it has the perfect level of warmth. Not so warm that it appears orange and not so white-based that it looks chalky - I just love it! It applies smoothly and wears for four hours on me, although it looked pretty faded after three, and is non-drying.
Ruffian Red
Ruffian Red is described as 'classic rich blue red' with a Matte finish. It's a warm red, definitely more orange than blue, though no less beautiful for it! I really love this red and have worn it many times. It wears for six and a half hours on me without drying out my lips or feathering.
What I liked:
- Strong colour payoff
- Non-drying
- Doesn't feather
- Wear was between four and six and a half hours
- Nothing!
Did you grab anything from MAC Ruffian when it was available?
