As an unabashed lover of warm eyeshadows, I had to pick up the ColourPop Peachy Keen quad ($18USD) when it launched. I'm so glad I did, too, because alongside the pretty metallic Crimper, it contains three matte shades and I have fallen absolutely head over heels with ColourPop's Matte formula! They're a total dream to blend and I'm now obsessing over adding more to my collection ASAP. Keep on scrolling to see the beautiful shades in the Peachy Keen quad.
ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows have a malleable consistency like wet clay - should you press a finger into the eyeshadow you'll leave a hollow, it doesn't spring back or cling like a mousse, nor does it resist like a cream or powder. And of course, it's endlessly amusing to prod at! Because of the wetness of the formula, it is important to keep the lid tightly shut to prevent the product drying out. Even so, they have a fairly short official shelf life, with ColourPop advising that their eyeshadows will last three years unopened and a year after being opened. I've now had these for over a year and there appears to be no difference in quality than when I first got them, so it seems ColourPop are being pretty conservative.
There are eight different finishes in the SuperShock range: Ultra-Glitter, Glitter Sheer, Satin, Matte, Metallic, Ultra-Metallic, Pearlized and Pressed Pigments; I have a mixture of Metallic and Matte shades to show you today. The Metallics are pretty much what they sound like: a super sparkly base, often with the addition of the glitter, as is the case with Crimper in this set. The Mattes are my new love; I'd only tried a few before in colours that weren't really up my alley but the three in this set are very 'me' and have me obsessed with picking up more ColourPop Mattes. They blend incredibly well and true to the Super Shock formula, they last forever on me. I've found the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to be excellent for working with these, it blends them out seamlessly. Oddly, I didn't like ColourPop's own blending brush so much for the task!
Packaging:
The term 'quad' might lead you to think that these come in a palette but the Super Shock Shadow formula will dry out if not housed in their screwtop jars. What you actually get are the four eyeshadow pots in a box with a slide off cover.

Crimper
Crimper is described as a 'soft gold with multi-dimensional gold glitter in a metallic finish'. It packs enough pigment to work as a lid shade but it's equally suited to blending out on the inner corner - perfect if you love a blingy highlight. I didn't experience any fallout with Crimper and it was very easy to work with.
This shade was originally released in the limited edition Forever Freshman set.
For this look, I used Crimper on the inner corner, Arrow on the inner half of the lid, Babykins on the outer half of the lid, Melrose on the crease and lower lashline and I Spy for the transition. The lashes are these ones from Born Pretty Store. I'm also wearing Frenchie Lippie Stix.
Kennedy
Kennedy is described as a 'true mid-tone peach in a matte finish'. This is a beautiful transition shade for warm eyeshadow looks and applies and blends beautifully.
I used Kennedy as a transition shade for this look, with Sticker Sheet on the crease, Get Lucky all over the lid and on the lower lashline and Juicy Apple on the inner corner. The lashes are Ardell #110s. I'm also wearing Konnichiwa Lippie Stix in the look below (reviewed here).
Cornelious
Cornelious is described as a 'mid-tone warm caramel in a matte finish'. I keep coming back to Cornelious as it makes a great transition shade and it being darker and browner than Kennedy allows me to fake a more sculpted look (handy when you have hooded lids like me!). The formula is once again, on point.
This shade is available as part of the permanent/Kathleen Lights collaboration range as well.
Bandit
Bandit is described as a 'warm rusty brown with a matte finish'. It's an excellent crease shade on me, I was thrilled at how easily I was able to add depth with Bandit without overdoing it or muddying my crease.
This shade is available as part of the permanent range as well so you can pick it up on its own anytime.
Here, I've used Bandit and High Rise on the crease with Cornelious as a transition shade. I also used 8 Track on the outer half of the lid and lower lashline, Moonwalk on the inner half of the lid and Jinxie on the inner corner. The lashes are these Red Cherry 217 dupes from Ebay. I'm also wearing Tuesday Ultra Matte Lip in the full face pic.
What I liked:
- Great colour payoff
- Easy to apply and blend
- No fallout
- Incredibly long-wearing, I experience no creasing or fading with this formula
- Nothing!
