Hey lovelies,
One of the products you guys were really interested in when I shared my Essence preview post was the Lash Princess Volume Mascara and I can't blame you - that packaging is to die for! I've been trialling this out over the past couple of weeks so let's dive into the review.
Lash Princess' packaging is adorable; glossy black with peachy decorations to make the mascara tube look like a dress - you can see the hint of faux corset lacing on the back of the cap in the picture above. The decorative whirls aren't purely for show, on the cap they are rubberized to aid in gripping it during application.
The brush itself is a curved cobra head shape with spiralling traditional bristles. The curve really helps to grab and lift the lashes.

Lash Princess definitely gives my lashes lift and volume (I did not use a lash curler for these photos), but is also provides some clumping. I took these photos during my first time using it and after a few more uses the formula has settled down a bit and is a little less clumpy. I generally find mascara is never at its best when first opened, does anyone else notice that? Even so, it's still a little clumper than I'd like but can be managed with some attention and a lash comb.
This mascara wears all day for me without running or flaking, but I do find a very small amount of smudging under my lower lashes at the end of the day. This is usually disguised to an extent by the eyeshadow I wear there, but it's still not ideal. For the price though ($7.45NZD) I'd say Lash Princess is definitely still worth a shot, especially if you like super-black thick lashes.
What I liked:
- Provides volume
- Gives lashes a lift
- Wallet friendly
- Smudges under eyes over the course of the day
- Prone to clumping
