Hey lovelies,
Chi Chi lipsticks are another bandwagon I'm rather late to but I've picked up a few in recent months and I must say, I quite like them! The first shade I have to show you is Blonde Ambition, a light orange leaning coral.
Chi Chi's packaging is glamorous and gorgeous with a foiled pink heart & damask print on the matte black lid. I love that the end of the lipstick matches the colour inside; anything that makes it easy to identify a colour in a rush is a win in my book! Unlike other brands like MUA and Makeup Revolution, this coloured cap does not come off, but I've never actually found myself getting that far through one of those lipsticks to resort to that anyway. I like how sturdy and solid Chi Chi's packaging is, it feels very well made and isn't flimsy in the slightest.
Blonde Ambition is described by Chi Chi as a peachy coral. The orange leanings make it more unique in my hefty stash of corals though not, it seems, as unique as I first thought (see below).
It has a matte finish which can be a little unforgiving if your lips are not prepped but there is enough creaminess in the formula to let it glide on smoothly. I did find that it looked slightly chalky when first applied but after a few minutes the warmth of my lips had it looking a lot nicer.
Those sensitive to strong scents in their cosmetics may have a hard time with the strong floral scent scent I encountered with Blonde Ambition, although it faded after around twenty minutes of wear. All up, Blonde Ambition lasted for five hours for me and was neither drying nor hydrating.
While browsing for possible dupes in my stash I discovered one that I think is pretty spot on - Illamasqua Brink! I would say - if we're being pedantic - that Brink is the tiniest smidgen darker and the texture is drier. You can see the comparison in my Instagram post below (don't forget to follow me!) and you can see more swatches and read my review of Brink here.
What I liked:
- Great colour pay off
- Lasted five hours
- Non drying
- Looks slightly chalky when first applied (but settles down as it warms on your lips)
- Has quite a strong floral scent, although this faded after about twenty minutes
- Farmers stores (New Zealand)
- Myer (Australia)
- Target (Australia)
- Chi Chi Cosmetics website (with international shipping!)
Have you tried Chi Chi's lipsticks before? Do you have a favourite shade? I'd love to hear about it!
X

Oh, I was expecting it to be a bright orange seeing from the bullet, I actually quite like the coral-ness in your swatches, love this ~ I tend to go for mostly pinks when I buy lipsticks, and I never thought of picking up anything other than pink when I visit the store, have to check this out...
ReplyDeleteIt's quite deceptive in the tube, huh? Worth giving a shot :)
