MAC Monday: Cinderella - Stroke of Midnight Eye Shadow x6 Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

I'm still loving most of my MAC Cinderella haul and my surprise favourite from the collection has been the Stroke of Midnight Eye Shadow x6 palette. I've found MAC's eyeshadows to be pretty hit or miss in the past but this wee gem contains largely tried and true permanent shades and oddly, I may be one of the few diehard MAC fans to not already own them!

This is my first six pan MAC palette and it's an auspicious start. The clear lid and magnetic closure hold infinite appeal for me and the limited edition powder blue colour scheme is a happy bonus. The pans are well sized although the deviation from MAC's usual round pans makes me a little sad that there isn't the potential to refill it when the eyeshadows are finished. I suppose I could press some pigments into the empty pans!

Vapour - 'Peach-pink with violet pearl' (Velvet). A very pretty wash of shimmer, but not overpowering in the slightest. I like using this to blend out shadows and highlight the browbone.
Phloof - 'Frosted off-white' (Frost). I can't believe I've never tried Phloof before! It's intensely pigmented with a super smooth texture. I absolutely love it as an inner corner highlight but I used it all over the lid with Omega along the socketline the weekend before last and that was an awesome combo too. Unfortunately didn't take any pictures as I was in a rush!
Omega - 'Soft muted beige-taupe' (Matte). Beautiful crease and transition colour. Like Quarry, the matte formula is just lovely; easy to blend and the colour pay off is great.
Quarry - 'Soft muted brown-plum'. (Matte). I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one, as the plumminess reminds me of some of the colours in Urban Decay Naked 3, which I struggled to make work on my complexion. Quarry, however, is far warmer than those shades and it's become one of my favourites in this palette. The matte formula is smooth, pigmented and blends beautifully. I use it along my socketline most of the time.
Satin Taupe - 'Taupe with silver shimmer' (Frost). Another cult MAC shade I somehow have never tried before. Well, I'm a convert now! It feels a little dry in the pan but builds up and blends beautifully. I've been favouring this as a lid colour or along the lower lashline.
Stroke of Midnight - 'Black plum with sparkle pearl' (Velvet). The only limited edition shade present, this had a drier texture than the remainder of the palette but was still easy enough to work with. As in the look below I've largely been using it to deepen my crease or define my lower lashline, but I'd love to try a look which made it the star of the show on the lid.

Overall I love Stroke of Midnight and it definitely makes me more inclined to take a second look at MAC's six pan palettes. The colours are versatile and surprisingly unique in my collection.
