Balala Setting the Color Lipstick #11 Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

I was recently fortunate enough to be provided with some awesome new goodies for review by Born Pretty Store so today I have the first of them to show you!

I'm never quite sure what to call these products as so many of them have no names on the Born Pretty Store product listings or a multitude of names on the packaging. So I've done my best to label them according to the packaging but I'll link to the product page at Born Pretty too to make them easier to find!

The packaging for the Balala Setting the Color lipstick is rather nice, especially considering this lipstick only costs $3.99USD. The plastic is lightweight but not flimsy and the lid clasps in place securely.
I can't help but notice the font used for 'balala' looks very similar to the Banila Co logo, though the packaging doesn't otherwise match any Banila Co lipstick range I've seen. Intriguing.

There are twelve shades in the Setting the Color line, ranging from pastels to brights. Shade #11 is a light lavender with a matte finish. Oddly it swatches pinker and darker on my arm than on my lips! #11 is mostly opaque, particularly in the arm swatch, but on the lips it tends to slide around a bit and is difficult to get even. You can see in the swatch above that I didn't quite manage it, but it looked better from a normal viewing distance. #11 wears for just under six hours without being drying.

The uneven colour payoff may be a dealbreaker for some, but I think this kind of lipstick is great as an entry point to trying a less conventional shade before dropping a lot of cash on a more expensive brand. Or perhaps you just need a colour like this for a party or event and otherwise wouldn't wear it. If you love this kind of colour and want something more opaque, Darling by Melt Cosmetics is pretty fabulous!
