Darling Girl Daily: Fisticuffs Eyeshadow Swatches & Review

Purchased by me/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

Another day, another Darling Girl. For those not in the know, here's a blurb from my previous post:

Darling Girl Cosmetics is a US based indie cosmetic company who offer varying sizes of their eyeshadow and face products for very reasonable prices. I purchased:
  • The Bloggers Review Kit ($4USD - 4 sample bags containing 1/8 tsp of product & 1 Petit, containing 1/4 tsp)
  • Mix & Match Sample Set ($4 - 5 baggies)
  • And a selection of the international only sample bags, which I can no longer find on the site.
They mainly offer Petit ($2.50, 1/4 tsp product) and full size jars of their products ($5.90+, 3/4 tsp). There don't appear to be any sample sizes of the lip products (which I'm keen to check out next!).

Today I'll be showing you Fisticuffs eyeshadow and spoiler alert - I knew I needed a full size jar from the moment I swatched it!

Left: Applied dry/Right: Applied over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy

Fisticuffs is described as a 'Dusky indigo base with a metallic gold sheen and pink sparkles.' The indigo base... I can see it in the bag, obviously, but applied, Fisticuffs is dominated by that golden sheen. If anything I think the purple hints give it a golden taupe-pewter vibe. Yes, I know those are different colours - but it looks more taupe on my arm and more pewter on my lids! I just can't keep up with the colour shifts this gorgeous shadow throws!
The cherry on top, for me, is the pinky-violet sparkles. Fair warning, I did experience quite a bit of fall out from the sparkle even with a sticky base, but I can't resist the way that it catches the light and contrasts against Fisticuffs' mysterious tones. It does fare better if you pat it on, but even so I'd recommend using shadow shields or holding a tissue underneath your eye during application to minimise clean up.
I like that Fisticuffs has good opacity applied by its lonesome or over a sticky base and the shimmer and sparkle are both present either way. Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy just makes everything that much better.

What I liked:
  • Opaque and sparkly alone or with a sticky base
  • Soft and blendable texture
  • Super reasonably priced - $2.50 for a Petit, $5.90 for a Full Size jar, or try a Mix & Match sample set (5 samples for $4 - all prices in USD)

    What I didn't like:
    • The sparkles left me with quite a bit of fall out

    Where to buy:
