Yo Wedding | Bridesmaid Makeup: Casey

Purchased by Casey and I/Provided for review/Contains affiliate links

Hey lovelies,

My wedding (dubbed Yo Wedding by Mike and I because apparently we can't keep anything formal) is just around the corner and I wanted to share the bridesmaids' makeup with you! My two sisters, my best friend and Mike's sister are acting as my bridesmaids - I'm rather greedy, hoarding all the bridesmaids!
As my sisters live locally, they've had to endure being dragged around makeup counters, repeated trials, declarations that they absolutely need this or that brush and my cryptic mumbling to myself as I have a not so internal monologue about what is and isn't working about colours and application. Fortunately for me they are very good sports and agreed to let me share the finalized makeup looks with you all, starting with Casey (this is also the same makeup for two of the other girls, just with a coral or tangerine blush):

Classic Old Hollywood Bridesmaid Makeup

We're blending some classic fifties glamour with a beachy bohemian vibe which translates more with the dress, shoes and hair accessories (though you'll have to wait to see those!). The makeup is intended to mirror that, with matte red lips, fluttery lashes, glowing cheeks and skin and golden tones on the eyes. As we're having the wedding on Great Barrier Island, everything needs to be long wearing, capable of withstanding the heat, lots of wine and good food and perhaps even a few tears.

FACE
ELF Tone Adjusting Green Mineral Infused Primer (14)
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - Vanilla (5)
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Mont Blanc (10)
NYX Blush - Taupe (4)
MAC Mineralize Blush - Dainty (3)
Australis Neon Crush Bronzer - You Only Live Once/YOLO (7)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish - Lightscapade (8)
TheBodyNeeds Transparent Finishing Powder (18)
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (15)

For a medium-full coverage base, we've opted for NARS Creamy Concealer (5and Sheer Glow Foundation (10), first prepping skin with Casey's moisturiser of choice and ELF Mineral Infused Primer in Tone-Adjusting Green (14). With fuller coverage comes the need to add dimension back in though, so we're contouring lightly with NYX Taupe blush (4before warming up Casey's hairline and cheeks with Australis You Only Live Once/YOLO bronzer. MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty (3)adds a a beautiful pink flush which is perfect for Casey, as she loves nothing more than glowing pink cheeks (usually paired with a great lipstick!).
Finally we'll highlight Casey's cheekbones and browbone with MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish (8before setting everything in place with TheBodyNeeds Transparent Finishing Powder (18and Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (15) for good measure.

EYES
Covergirl Shadowblast - Beige Blaze
LORAC Pro Palette - Cream all over lid, Taupe in crease, Sable to deepen (1)
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Half Baked all over lid, Foxy to blend out, Bootycall to highlight (17)
ZA Liquid Eyeliner BK999 Real Black* (2)
Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara* (6)
Ardell #110 lashes (11)

We need Casey's eyeshadow to last all night so we're going for a double whammy of primer (Covergirl Shadowblast in Beige Blaze is an unfortunately discontinued two in one eyeshadow & primer that I've had great success with over the past few years) and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky base that holds onto shadows like nobody's business. It doesn't perform well with mattes and isn't a primer in itself though, so we first need to lay down a wash of Cream from the LORAC Pro palette (1before going in with Taupe and Sable to define the socketline. A tiny dab of Pixie Epoxy spread out on the lid is all we need to make Half Baked from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (17) look more vibrant and keep it in place all day. Foxy and Bootycall from the same palette soften any harsh edges and highlight.
Keeping up with the retro vibe, a slash of liquid eyeliner - ZA's pen style in BK999 Real Black, which will last all day even in the Barrier heat - and Ardell #110 lashes (11give a fluttery but not overdone look. We'll use Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara to blend Casey's lashes with the falsies because it curls and defines easily and is budge proof, effortlessly lasting through sweat and tears (blood not yet tested. If we happen to have it with us in the apocalypse, we'll let you know how it goes).

BROWS
ZA Brow Liner BR631 Cocoa Brown* (12)
MAC Clear Brow Set

Simple and sweet here, ZA Brow Liners are waterproof and budge proof and BR631 Cocoa Brown is a good match for Casey's eyebrows. MAC Clear Brow Set tames any unruly hairs.

LIPS
Covergirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner - Passion (9)
Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream - NY-CEE (13)

For the perfect red lip, we're pairing Covergirl Lip Perfection lip liner in Passion with Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in NY-CEE. NY-CEE doesn't need a lip liner to prevent feathering but it can take a little more effort than we'll have time for on the wedding day to apply precisely. By lining and partially filling in lips with the Covergirl liner (which as a bonus boosts longevity) we can cheat a bit by using to get the perfect lip shape, then filling them in with the Velourlips. NY-CEE is one of my favourite Velourlips shades because it's gorgeous and has one of the best formulas of the bunch! You can check out my full review here.

NAILS
Color Club - Take Me To Your Chateau (16)

The finishing touch is this pretty pastel blue, which will be stamped in white or a darker blue with an as yet undecided damask or floral plate to match the other bridesmaids' dresses.

What do you think of the chosen makeup look? I can't wait to see everything come together on the big day and will be sure to share pictures!
