Australis Velourlips - Noo-d Fighters Swatches & Review

Purchased by me

Hey lovelies,

Australis' latest limited edition release, AC/ME has been rolling out at more local pharmacies and Farmers stores of late and as per usual, I couldn't resist picking up another of the metallic Velourlips to try. I loved Grandmaster Pash from the same collection (reviewed here) and didn't have anything like Noo-d Fighters, so why not? :D

Noo-d Fighters sees an unfortunate return to the unnecessarily hyphenated shade names, but thankfully leaves out the bulk of the capital letters because TY-P-ING LI-KE TH-IS I-S RE-A-LL-Y BL-OO-D-Y ANN-O-Y-ING.
Packaging wise, it's what we're used to from the Velourlips; a long clear tube with cute lace printed edging, a black cap containing a soft doefoot applicator and a sweet pink heart over the 'i' in Velourlips. The limited edition metallic shades also bear a sticker denoting them as such.

Australis Velourlips - Noo-d Fighters Swatches & Review

Noo-d Fighters is a complex shade, the base colour is somewhat warm, but the silver shimmer that it is flecked with makes me read the colour as cooler and more taupe-leaning overall. Definitely unique in my collection and very cool. As I mentioned in my review of Grandmaster Pash, the texture of the metallic Velourlips is slightly thinner and sheerer than their permanent creme counterparts which allows them to be built up and applied easily with no fuss whatsoever. The lasting power of Noo-d Fighters was positively mind boggling, lasting for eight (!) hours through food and drink before it finally faded away.
I did find it to be minimally drying towards the end of the wear time, and a few tiny sparkles escaped the lipline, finding their way to my chin and upper lip - I am guessing because of the food and drink. Speaking of sparkle, it can be felt if you press your lips together, but it isn't gritty. I also found the texture to have a very slight tackiness that I haven't noticed with the other Velourlips, although it wasn't sticky enough to bother me, just something that I noticed. Velourlips have a sweet synthetic candy scent.

What I liked:
  • Lasted eight hours!
  • Great colour pay off
  • Sweet candy scent
  • Thinner, more buildable texture makes it easier to apply than some of the Velourlips shades
  • Non-gritty sparkly goodness
What I didn't like:
  • Very slight tackiness may bother some
  • A little bit of sparkle migration
  • Minimally drying towards the end of wear
Where to buy:

Have you picked anything up from this collection? What do you think of Noo-d Fighters?
