Matte will forever and always be my favourite lipstick finish, so I was super excited when Maybelline brought out their range of Creamy Matte lipsticks in the States last year. I promptly bought a bunch of them from one of my favourite Trade Me sellers, splashstore, loved them, and then forbade myself from buying any more until I'd finished writing up a review. A policy I should probably adopt more often, LOL. Now there are even more shades out overseas! I hope we get them all here. Always late to the party, I think New Zealand will finally get these in the next month or so.

Formula overview:
These lipsticks feel very creamy and cushiony gliding on the lips - there's none of that dry, stiff, dragging texture that matte lipsticks are often associated with. The lighter shades can be slightly unforgiving of flaky lips but on the whole they're very easy to work with and they have excellent colour pay off across the board. They have a sweet, lightly honeyed scent.

Nude Embrace
Nude Embrace is a warm nude which clings to dry patches very slightly. It wore for a bit over four hours and was not drying.
*
Daringly Nude
Daringly Nude is a dusty pinky nude, which, like Nude Embrace, also emphasized flakiness somewhat. It wears for a bit over four hours and is not drying. This is my favourite of the two nudes, I adore pinky-peachy nudes and find this one super flattering.

Touch of Spice
Touch of Spice is a medium rosy brown, which totally nails the 90s lip trend. I love it although it has been a bit of a gateway lippy into more brown lippies! Never thought I'd say that. It wears for six hours and is slightly drying.

Mesmerizing Magenta
Mesmerizing Magenta is a medium magenta pink with fine shimmer. I took a gamble when I bought this as there weren't many swatches around at the time (I've been sitting on these swatches way too long) so the shimmer was a surprise, but it's quite nice. Not at all frosty and it doesn't accentuate uneven texture. Mesmerizing Magenta wears for four hours without drying out my lips or feathering.
Craving Coral is a vermillion orange with mostly opaque colour pay off. I really love this colour, it's one of my favourites from the range and I can't really think of anything quite like it either! It wears for eight hours on me without being drying.
*
Siren in Scarlet
Siren in Scarlet is a classic red with subtle warm tones. I know I have a million reds but this one just feels so nice to apply, plus the wear time is pretty stellar too - it lasts for seven and a half hours without feathering or being drying.
*
Divine Wine
Divine Wine is a dark burgundy red and is one of my other favourite shades from this selection (yes, I know I have a lot of favourites today, but I reeeeaaaally like this lipstick formula!). It wears for seven and a half hours on me, isn't drying and doesn't feather.
What I liked:
- Great colour pay off
- Smooth, cushiony texture and application
- Siren in Scarlet, Divine Wine, Nude Embrace, Craving Coral and Mesmerizing Magenta are not drying
- Non feathering
- Wear time ranged between four and eight hours
What I didn't like:
- Daringly Nude and Touch of Spice are slightly drying
Where to buy:
Have you tried Maybelline's Creamy Matte lipsticks? I think they're launching in New Zealand soon, can't wait to see the shades I'm missing in stores!
