Notoriously Morbid November 2015 Vanishing Cabinet 2015 Swatches & Review

November 2015's Vanishing Cabinet was my first introduction to Notoriously Morbid's matte eyeshadows, with the shade Mister Unlucky. It's all been downhill for my bank account from there because NM's matte formula is all kinds of wonderful. This remains one of my favourite Vanishing Cabinets ever, actually, because it also included Pumpkin King Mystic Matte, a glorious burnt orange that was so popular that it was later added to the permanent range under the name Doppelganger.

The two eyeshadows were limited edition, but Carrie from Notoriously Morbid has recently started bringing back previous Vanishing Cabinet shades for a month at a time, so you never know what might be resurrected. Or what may pop up in the Notoriously Morbid Buy/Sell/Trade group or in a blog sale. Basically, never give up on an ISO.

About the subscription:
The Vanishing Cabinet is a monthly subscription service from US based indie brand Notoriously Morbid. The amount of products included seems to vary, but there's typically three to five products in each. It's $13.25USD within the US and $20USD for international (including shipping), so a very reasonable monthly treat! You can sign up for the wait list here or purchase a one month trial (while available) here. Overstock is occasionally posted here.

I'm Restless is shown applied to bare skin (on the left) and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (on the right) using a patting motion, while Mister Unlucky is only shown over bare skin as matte eyeshadows and sticky bases don't work well. All of my swatches are photographed under daylight bulbs.

The November 2015 Vanishing Cabinet, Now and Forever, was, as you may have guessed from the adorable label art, inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. I know this film is a cult fave for many but I must admit I have only seen it once or twice - my mum thought it was a bit too scary for us to watch as kids. Are you a Nightmare Before Christmas fan?

I'm Restless is a murky grey-green with purple shimmer. The murkiness makes it such an interesting colour and I love how sparkly and complex it becomes over a sticky base, which it really needs in order to perform at its best.

For this look I used I'm Restless on the outer half of the lower lashline, Cara Mia on the inner half of the lid, She's Alive! on the outer half of the lid and Countess of Shroudshire on the inner half of the lower lashline (all Notoriously Morbid). I also used the LORAC Pro Palette for the crease and highlight shades. The false eyelashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.

Mister Unlucky is a matte burnt orange with rich, even colour payoff and is very blendable and easy to work with. 5 By 5 in the permanent line is pretty close, just a little brighter.

I've used Mister Unlucky on the crease for this look, Give the Devil His Due on the inner half of the lid with Eye of the Tiger on the outer half and on the lower lashline over smudged out liner. I also used He's Going Through Changes for the transition. The inner corner highlight is Owl and the lashes are Sarah Jean SJ001s.

Pumpkin King (Doppelganger) is described as a 'rich burnt pumpkin'. It's gorgeous and the formula doesn't disappoint; it applies smoothly, is opaque in one layer and delivers six hours of comfortable, non-drying wear. If you're looking for something a bit different but still very wearable, give PK/Doppelganger a whirl.
