If you're obsessed with matte lipstick, you are going to love this subscription! Earlier this year, Notoriously Morbid introduced a new monthly subscription called Mystic Monthly. They already do a mixed product subscription called The Vanishing Cabinet (you can see my posts about it here) which I really enjoy, and their Mystic Matte lipsticks are out of this world popular with NM fans, so a dedicated subscription made sense. Each month subscribers receive a full-size Mystic Matte and an additional lip product. The products are exclusive to the subscription, though occasionally overstock is made available on the website and sometimes the products are brand new formulas, so you get a sneak peek of potential upcoming products!
The first year of Mystic Monthly is "The Witches' Inn", with each month's products being based on a famous witch. It comes with an information card regarding that month's inspiration, which is always a fascinating wee read and the subscription is very reasonably priced at $10USD within the US or $16USD internationally (including shipping). The full-size Mystic Mattes are regularly $12USD each and international shipping is usually $10USD so it's a pretty amazing deal in my opinion!

Formula overview:
These liquid mattes are among the easiest I've used to date, with a thin but easy to control formula and great opacity. Most are opaque in one coat, though they can be layered easily if needed and will not clump, streak or stick to themselves. There's no need to keep your lips parted while they dry, as many formulas require, because of the non-tackiness and fairly quick dry-down, yet they never fully set to a transfer-resistant state. You'll still get transfer with the Mystic Mattes, although obviously less than a creamy lipstick, and they tend to wear away evenly like a regular lipstick, instead of mostly in the centre, as I often experience with liquid mattes.
Some shades are drying but most are more clingy than anything. I did not experience any feathering or bleeding with any of them, they can be smudged if touched or smeared, but will not otherwise migrate. They have a faintly sweet scent.
Packaging:
Mystic Mattes come in a 7ml tube with a long slim doefoot that is shaped like a flattened oval. I find it really easy to work with and did not use a lip brush for these swatches.

Mystic Monthly #1 was based on Mother Waterhouse. Here's the text from the info sheet:
How very fitting that the first witch in The Witches' Inn Mystic Monthly was the first person to be executed for witchcraft in England? She, along with her sister and daughter were accused of being witches and ultimately it was her daughter's testimony that caused Agnes (or Mother Waterhouse) to hang.
Mother Waterhouse is described as a 'deep berry toned metallic', it has fine purple and copper sparkles too. Super in love with this one! It lasted for six hours on me with some fading and wasn't drying.
The additional lip balm for the first Mystic Monthly was Sathan Pink Frosting Lip Balm which has a delightful buttercream frosting scent. I really like Notoriously Morbid lip balms in general as they have a good amount of slip and hydration and the scents make them rather moreish!

The second instalment inspo:
Bridget Bishop was the first person execusted during the Salem witch trials. She was accused by 5 young girls and several 'witnesses' that said her shadow (or shape) would poke, pinch and otherwise harm them even as the court trial was taking place. She was ultimately found guilty and hanged. She proclaimed her innocence wither last words "I am no witch. I am innocent. I know nothing of it."
Bishop is described as 'a warm toned brown rose'. It has stellar colour payoff and is very flattering on me, my only concern is going to be conserving it so that I don't run out! It lasted five and half hours on me without being drying.
My Shadow is a sheer berry-red with gold sparkles. This is Notoriously Morbid's first Sinister Sprite Lip Shimmer, a lightly tinted shimmery balm and I'm digging it. It's super comfortable to wear and the tint is decently pigmented and even in its colour payoff. It lasts about two hours on me, with some sparkle left behind.

#3's inspiration:
The third instalment of The Witches' Inn Mystic Monthly brings us to Yorkshire. Mother Shipton, Ursula Southeil, was an English prophetess known for her predictions regarding the rulers of her day. This apothecary and soothsayer practised in the cave in which she was born. Since her death in 1561 at the age of 73, her legacy lives on in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. There you can visit her cave and make a wish in the Petrifying Well.
Shipton is described as a 'berried nude mauve with a sky blue shimmer'. This is one of the Mystics where the more you press your lips together (once the lipstick has dried), the stronger the colour shift will be. Nice to see a cooler tone since the first two instalments were quite warm, but it's neutral enough to work for me still. Shipton lasted just over eight hours on me and wasn't drying.
