ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip - Sunday, Milk Bottle, Tuesday and Mimmy Swatches & Review

In today's edition of my ongoing ColourPop review onslaught... four more Ultra Mattes, including two from the Hello Kitty collection, which is currently on Last Call! Although I generally prefer the Ultra Satins and Lippie Stix, I've been on a bit of a roll lately with the Ultra Mattes as there have been so many awesome colours coming out in recent months.

Ultra Mattes come boxed (with names on the boxes, perfect for my preferred storage!) and have clear packaging with silver caps and trim, although the Hello Kitty collaboration shades also have bows printed on the caps to set them apart. They have a slim angled doefoot applicator that I find easy to work with for outlining lips and distributing the product evenly.

Formula Overview:
All of ColourPop's liquid lipsticks are richly pigmented and have a slightly chemical scent although it's not strong or offensive.
The Ultra Matte range dries down to a flat matte finish quickly and tends to be more hit or miss than their other formulas. When it's good, it's really bloody good and when it's bad, it's a flakey, shrivelled, drying mess. Fortunately, these four are all really good formula-wise; they don't flake, streak or cake up during application and last six hours or more.

Sunday

Sunday is described as a 'soft terracotta'. A very pretty pinkish-neutral with warm leanings, it's the kind of colour that I never get sick of. Application and opacity were both pretty good, and it wore for seven hours on me while being slightly clingy.

Milk Bottle

Milk Bottle is described as a 'pretty mid-tone pink'. This is a close dupe for Jeffree Star Doll Parts so if you've been looking for one, definitely consider snapping up Milk Bottle before it's gone! The formula is great; opaque, easy to work with and long lasting too. Milk Bottle wore for six and a half hours and wasn't drying.

Tuesday

Tuesday is described as a 'bright coral red'. Absolutely the standout shade in these four for me! Tuesday is the saturated retro red of my dreams. It's super opaque and applies smoothly (my lips were not in the best condition in the above swatch and it was still pretty forgiving of the dry flaky patches). Tuesday lasts six and half hours on me and isn't drying.

Mimmy

Mimmy is described as a 'rich smoky mauve'. I found it surprisingly similar to Viper on me, although Mimmy does pull more purple. I was really happy with how evenly this lovely warm purple applied, as purples can be notoriously patchy - no such problems here! It wore for six and a quarter hours on me with some light staining.

What I liked:
  • Great colour payoff
  • They last for six-seven hours on me
  • All of them had smooth, easy application
  • Tuesday, Milk Bottle and Mimmy weren't drying
  • None of them feathered
What I didn't like:
  • Sunday was clingy
Where to buy:
Have you tried any of these Ultra Mattes?
