Fyrinnae Eyeshadows - Forest Dragon, Caramel Layer Cake, Bawdy Librarian and Electric Stardust Swatches & Review

It's been so long since I've reviewed any Fyrinnae eyeshadows and given my continued adoration for them, that's just not on. Here's a few eyeshadows I purchased last year (#worstbloggerever) and have fallen completely in love with.

Packaging: 
Fyrinnae eyeshadows are available in full size jars ($6.75USD for regular eyeshadows and $7.30USD for Arcane Magics) with a weight of approximately 3 grams.

Alternatively, the mini jars (which are what I purchase and what you'll see pictured here) contain 1/3 tsp (regular eyeshadows, $2.75USD) or 1/4 tsp (Arcane Magics, $2.75USD) and are about .4 to .7 gram in weight. 

Formula overview:
Fyrinnae's eyeshadows have a semi-loose formula with binders added that can form small balls of pigment (they are easy to crush or use as is and don't present any issues during application). Some colours still benefit from a sticky base underneath to help sparkle adhere, such as Fyrinnae's own Pixie Epoxy, but they can be easily used without one. They're a breeze to blend, too.

Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches in this post are done two ways: applied on bare skin on the left hand side and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, a sticky eyeshadow base which maximises colour intensity and sparkle, on the right. This is so you can see how they perform both ways. I take all of my photos with daylight bulbs for colour accuracy.

Forest Dragon

Forest Dragon is described by Fyrinnae as a 'lush, multi-hued metallic green. May appear to have a gold highlight depending on application.' An absolute must for green lovers, the gold sheen is subtle when in use but still adds a bit of nuance to the colour. It works better without a base than you might think from the swatch above, I used it alone on the lower lashline in the makeup look further down.

Caramel Layer Cake

Caramel Layer Cake is described as a 'satin peachy tan shade is enhanced with light pink sparkle'. I threw this in my cart as a bit of an impulse buy but it's wound up being one of my favourite Fyrinnae purchases to date. The light pink sparkle mentioned is very subtle, but contributes to the overall metallic effect that Caramel Layer Cake has when applied over a sticky base. If you love warm tones, you need this.

Bawdy Librarian is described as a 'lush, shimmery, golden brown rich with gold sparkle'. I'll admit I bought this primarily for the name as I have a few librarian friends I thought would get a giggle out of it! I'm so glad I did though because it's better than I ever expected and perfect for this bronze eyeshadow lover. The gold sparkles really shine over a sticky base but show up without one too, just with less intensity.

Electric Stardust is described as a 'light, glowing, mint green sparkle... Brought closer to light, it changes to a pale aqua-blue.' Unfortunately Electric Stardust appears to have been discontinued since I placed my order, in fact it seems to have come and gone from the Arcane Magic line up a few times now, so hopefully it will someday return. I found it really easy to work with and was impressed that the sparkles adhered without the use of a base and didn't cause any fallout over the course of the day, either. If Fyrinnae bring this back, I'll buy a full size jar for sure.

I used Bawdy Librarian on the outer half of the lid, Caramel Layer Cake on the inner half, Forest Dragon on the lower lashline and Electric Stardust on the inner corner. I also used the LORAC Nude Skinny palette for the transition and blending. The lashes are Cala lashes in style 1.
