Kiss My Sass recently made the move to make all of their products limited edition (with the exception of their eye primer) so I thought I'd better get my butt into gear and share more of my eyeshadow swatches! I'm really excited for the new shades and products that will be coming through as things sell out, but I must admit that it's given me FOMO over a lot of the existing range. Time to tick some things off my wishlist!
Kiss My Sass' eyeshadows are available in two sizes: full-size sifter jar (at least 1.2 grams by weight in a “5-gram” sifter jar, $6USD) or sample bag (approx. 1/4 tsp in a 2″ x 2″ zip bag, $2USD). You'll predominantly see me featuring the sample bags as I don't use most colours often enough to warrant a full size, but I do prefer the full-size packaging. I'd love it if KMS introduced an inbetween size one day as sample bags do the job but aren't my favourite.
Formula overview:
I find that these shadows all hold up beautifully on their own, they have a velvety texture that lends itself well to blending and I often don't need an adhesive base to get the best performance from them. With an extensive neutral range (don't worry, there are plenty of colourful options too!) and user-friendly formula, I'd especially recommend these to anyone new to indie cosmetics.
Swatch notes:
All eyeshadow swatches are applied to bare skin (on the left) and over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (on the right) using a patting motion and photographed under daylight bulbs.
Fascination
Fascination is described as 'a bronze/brown with purple and blue shimmer'. This holds up beautifully on its own but the blue shimmer really shines over a sticky base. In the look a little further down, I used it over a base on the lid and without one on the lower lashline and it's not a stark contrast but the difference is there.
Aurora
Aurora is described as 'a lilac with an intense turquoise shimmer that shifts to blue & violet in different lighting'. Aurora was on my wishlist for years before I finally nabbed it and oh honey, was it worth the wait! The pigmentation, the blue shimmer - I can't fault it. It buffs out for a pretty inner corner highlight, too.
For this look, I've used Aurora on the inner half of the lid and inner corner, Fascination on the outer half of the lid and lower lashline, Cocoa on the crease, Sahara and Georgia Peach to blend out and Coma White on the browbone.
Late Night Lattes
Late Night Lattes is described as 'a matte tan with a color shifting overlay of shimmer (orange to blue to purple and purple sparkles'. Oooh, I like this! The tan is a bit more yellow than I usually go for but I'm liking it and contrasting sparkle is always a winner with me. Best applied over a sticky base for maximum sparkle.
Squirrel is described as 'a medium brown with an orange to copper to gold shift'. I know I'm sounding like a broken record here, but I really do love all of the eyeshadows I've picked today! Squirrel is richly pigmented, appearing almost identical alone and over a sticky base - just slightly less metallic without one. The copper shimmer gives it a very autumnal look, I'm sure I'll be reaching for it again soon.
Ghostly Apparition
Ghostly Apparition is described as 'a cream with aqua sparkles and a color shifting sheen (hints of green, gold, copper, peach, rose)'. This is a soft, delicate shade with a buttery-smooth formula that builds up or sheers out readily. The multiple shades of sparkle keep it very versatile, too.
Which of these is your favourite?
