ColourPop Lippie Stix - Skimpy, Toy, Ellarie, Backup and Kiddo Swatches & Review

This next batch of ColourPop Lippie Stix is almost all discontinued - again. Sorry guys!! As I've mentioned before, ColourPop do often bring back old shades, so cross those fingers and toes if you like the look of these. You just never know!

The packaging for the Lippie Stix is a glossy white twist up slim tube with a slanted lip bullet. I really like the smaller surface area of this lipstick style as it allows more precision than your traditional larger teardrop shaped bullet. Each lipstick has a coloured end cap which matches the colour inside as well as a label with the name and finish.

Formula Overview:
The shades I have to show you today are a mixture of Matte X, Matte and Glossy and Creme. All are richly pigmented and comfortable on the lips, I didn't find any of this batch drying. The Matte X has a velvety, powdery feeling, while the Mattes, Cremes and Glossy glide on and settle to a lightweight finish with varying levels of shine.
Lippie Stix have a chocolate chip cookie scent (to my nose) - yum!

Skimpy

Skimpy (discontinued) is a pale warm nude and has a Glossy finish. Skimpy is semi-opaque, which I personally find more flattering with a shade like this and until its recent discontinuation was the last vestige of the Glossy finish. If you love shades like MAC Creme D'Nude and Japanese Maple, Skimpy is worth tracking down. I found there was some demarcation, which you can see in the swatch above but mostly it wore well, lasting four hours.

Toy

Toy (discontinued) is described as a 'light peachy nude' and has a Creme finish. The colour payoff is impressive for a light and glossy shade, it reminds me strongly of MAC Myth but Toy performs better. If only it wasn't discontinued! You can still get its co-ordinating Lippie Pencil from ColourPop, oddly enough. Toy lasts four hours on me.

Ellarie

Ellarie is described as a 'matte deep cranberry' and has a Matte finish. Though it still provides decent colour payoff, it's one of ColourPop's sheerer mattes and has a level of sheen I would really associate more with a satin than a matte. I liked the smooth application and the longevity - seven hours in all, without being drying - but Ellarie feathered slightly and I experienced gathering in the corners of my lips, too. In all honesty, ColourPop can and do produce better matte reds than this.

Back Up

Back Up (discontinued) is a red-violet and has a Matte X finish. I can't imagine why this berry purple was struck off the permanent list, it's so pretty! And the formula plays well too, providing the smooth and opaque finish that the Matte X finish has me accustomed to. Back Up lasts six hours on me and isn't drying.

Kiddo (discontinued) is a nude pink with a hint of brown and has a Sheer finish. I honestly unabashedly adore this and can't imagine what ColourPop were thinking when they discontinued it. I know the Sheer Lippie Stix, on the whole, weren't great, but it wasn't Kiddo's fault. Don't make Kiddo pay for the crimes of others, ColourPop! Kiddo is very likely dupable but I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is shimmer-free and I really enjoy ColourPop's formula. Kiddo lasts five hours on me.
