Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick - Lolita Swatches & Review

The 90s lip is back with a vengeance and I'm dipping my toes in the trend with this Kat Von D lipstick I recently picked up in a makeup sales group. I've been wanting to try Kat Von D's makeup line for quite some time so I was really excited to put Lolita to the test!

Lolita comes from the now discontinued Painted Lip line, which has been completely revamped in the form of the new Studded Kiss line. I love the packaging for both so I'm glad I own a bit of each! (Guess who just ordered the Studded Kiss gift set from Sephora...)

Since I don't own Lolita in the Studded Kiss formula,  I can't say for sure whether they are identical, though online swatches look like they are pretty close. If you can't get enough of this colour, Lolita is also available in the Everlasting Love liquid lipstick formula. 

Lolita is described as a 'matte dusty rose'. It pulls too brown on me for me to consider it a 'rose', but still has enough red in it to be flattering. The colour pay off is opaque and even with a creamy texture. I've worn Lolita a couple of times already and found it lasted around 5 hours but became somewhat drying after 3. It never became uncomfortably drying (not enough to become a dealbreaker!) but it was noticeable. The scent is a synthetic sweetness I can't place.

I really like Lolita so I'm willing to put up with a bit of dryness for the lasting power. 5 hours may not seem like that long, but for a lighter shade I consider it more impressive, particularly since I was eating greasy food on both of the occasions I wore it and it remained relatively unscathed!

What I liked:

• Opaque, even colour
• Lasts 5-6 hours
• Doesn't feather, migrate or bleed

What I didn't like:

• Somewhat drying
