Hey lovelies,
I'm back with another mani! I feel like doing my nails even when I'm not really feeling it is helping to slowly push me out of my nail polish funk. This time I went for jewel tones and gold accents and I quite like how it turned out.
Thumb & ring: OPI - DS Temptation, 3 coats
Index: Kiko - Venom Teal, 2 coats + Born Pretty Store studs
Middle: Kiko - Venom Teal, 2 coats + dabbed glitter gradient with OPI - DS Temptation
Pinky: Kiko - Venom Teal, 2 coats
I started with Kiko Venom Teal from the apparently discontinued Laser line, a rich teal shimmer which appears to have a purple duochrome in the bottle but sadly doesn't deliver. It was smooth and opaque though. To compliment it, I chose OPI DS Temptation which is absolutely packed with glitter! It dries quite gritty, so I needed to use two coats of topcoat to get it completely smooth. I added gold pyramid studs kindly provided for review by Born Pretty Store with dabs of topcoat to get them to stick and then sealed them in with more topcoat.
The pyramid studs are really cool. They're nice and sturdy with a subtle beaten texture. They are quite large and flatbacked, so if you have small or very curved nails you may struggle with placement. I got them as flat as I could and there were still small gaps at the sides. They lasted about a day on my nails, but would likely have stayed put much longer if I had used nail glue instead of topcoat.
Are you feeling this manicure? In a bit of rut like me? Let me know in the comments :)

Love these colours, and the studs with them! Born Pretty has such good deals too.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a bit of a nail rut too - I need some tips on manicuring with a newborn! :)
Thanks Artemis! That's a tricky one! I became quite adept at manicuring with a sleeping baby on my lap :) It's made easier if you have a couch with sturdy armrests to pop your polish on.
ReplyDeleteYes, I need to practice! Right now my tactic is to paint two nails at a time, let them dry, paint the next two and so on. Takes awhile! Must practice some studs/nail art etc once I'm better practiced :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll be a pro in no time! Do you use a fast drying topcoat? I can't be without one!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get back into using one, I have been slack about it! I have the Essie Drying Drops which are amazing but so expensive, so I try to make my bottle last.
ReplyDeleteTry Glisten & Glow HK Girl :) I love how quickly it dries my manicures without shrinkage.
