MAC Monday: Porcelain Pink Mineralize Skinfinish Swatches & Review

If I cast my eye back through the eons to the purchase of my first MAC Mineralize Skinfinish, I'd see myself fuelled by giddiness and a desire to see what the hype was about, absolutely clueless about highlighting and frittering away disposable income that I really miss post-kids, haha. All that being said, Porcelain Pink remains one of my favourite MAC products of all time and I'm so glad I took the plunge into the world of Mineralize Skinfinishes, however much my wallet has subsequently regretted it. Porcelain Pink was my introduction to highlighting (my cheeks have never been the same) and once I discovered the almighty glow, PP was quickly joined by Lightscapade, Perfect Topping and then... it kind of snowballed from there.

Porcelain Pink was first released back in 2009 as part of the Colour Craft collection and that's the version I have to show you (hey, I told you we were going back eons), but it's made two returns to date, in Fall Trend/Cindy Sherman (2011) and Apres Chic (2012). With the market now being saturated with highlighters and makeup junkies looking for a bit more nuance beyond the standard colours, it seems about time for MAC to pull this one back off the shelf again. Five years is long enough!

Look at that gold marbling! 😍

Porcelain Pink is described as a 'soft pinky coral with gold veining'. It's a pale peach with pink sheen and gold shimmer, the pink sheen giving a duochrome effect that I'm afraid hasn't properly shown up in my pictures. It is so gorgeous and really has to be appreciated in person. Porcelain Pink wears for a little under twelve hours on me, which is a bit longer than I typically get with the Mineralize Skinfinishes.

I'm wearing Porcelain Pink as a highlighter with MAC Linda blush in these pictures.

What I liked:
  • The colour payoff is even and buildable to your desired level of intensity
  • It wears for twelve hours on me
  • Doesn't emphasise skin texture
  • Easy to apply and blend
What I didn't like:
  • Nothing!
