Darling Girl Superstar Serum Review

Mixing mediums open the door to so many creative opportunities in your makeup collection, don't they? I can't believe I'd never tried one before Darling Girl's Superstar Serum. I'm totally converted now and I expect you will be too because this baby makes it so easy to transform loose eyeshadows into eyeliners or create a stunning foiled eyeshadow look. My favourite use for Superstar Serum is glittery eyeliner, it's a really fun alternative to my usual black liquid. This is $4.50USD for 6ml, so not only does it not run any risk of breaking the bank but also I'm maybe 7/8ths through mine after plenty of use, so it's bound to last you a long time. Keep on reading to see Superstar Serum in action!

The labelling has undergone a bit of revamping since I received my bottle of Superstar Serum, it's now outfitted in a colourful, stripy label, resplendent with stars. The packaging itself is a squeezy bottle with a small tip dispenser, the same format as eye drops.

To use Superstar Serum, you mix a little eyeshadow with a drop of SS on a mixing palette or another clean surface, adding additional drop/s of SS until you get the desired consistency. You want to aim for a wet sand texture, if too wet, the resulting mixture will be sheer while being too dry will make it more likely to transfer as well as being less impactful.

Here I've swatched We're All Mad Here, the March COTM, three ways to show the difference. Left, over bare skin, you can see it's sheerer than the other two but still well pigmented and sparkly, with more of the maroon base colour showing. Over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, in the middle, the maroon base is still visible but is dominated by the shimmer and sparkle. Mixed with Superstar Serum, on the right, the maroon base is difficult to see as the purple shimmer takes over.
Superstar Serum has a negligible effect on wear time for me.

For this look I've used Superstar Serum to foil I <3 Candy More, #breaktheinternet for the transition and outer half of lid, Kilt-y Pleasures (old version) on the crease, Gerard on the inner half of the lid and inner corner and Troll Bridge on the lower lashline (all Darling Girl). The lashes are Ardell Demi Wispies.
