Karen Murrell Racy Rata Lipstick Swatches & Review

Provided for review

Hey lovelies,

I hope you had a great weekend and Monday! Apologies for dropping off the radar, I was sick all last week and weekend and ran out of scheduled posts and energy to write further. But I shall make up for it, I promise, with lots of pretty things this week! Leading the charge is Karen Murrell's latest release, Racy Rata, a luscious berry hue that would brighten anyone's day.
If you missed my reviews of Sugar Rush, Rymba Rhythm and Coral Dawn, Karen Murrell is a New Zealand brand with a focus on creating natural products from ethical and renewable sources. It's also cruelty free so it ticks the boxes for those who like their beauty products with a conscience.

Karen Murrell Racy Rata Lipstick Swatches & Review

As always, Karen Murrell's packaging is beautiful; each shade has its own artwork for the box, while the lipstick itself is presented in a sleek matte black tube. Racy Rata has very apt artwork for its name indeed, a  nude woman with rata flowers in her hair stares sultrily from the box.

Karen Murrell Racy Rata Lipstick Swatches & Review

Racy Rata is a raspberry red satin that becomes more matte over time. It has buildable colour pay off which makes it a very wearable berry shade. I liked that it was very even when applied sheerly so it could easily lend itself to a gradient lip or give a stain effect - it works wonderfully as a blush too. Racy Rata wore for five hours on me and was somewhat drying after three hours, which is unusual in my experience with Karen Murrell lipsticks. It did not feather, bleed or migrate and has the same solid feeling on the lips as other Karen Murrell lipsticks; it doesn't tug or skip at all but there's very little slip to the formula.

A FOTD with Racy Rata on lips & cheeks

What I liked:
  • Buildable colour pay off
  • Lasted 5 hours
  • Does not feather, bleed or migrate
  • Easy on the conscience! The lipstick itself is made with natural ingredients and the packaging has been created with biodegradable materials from sustainable sources.
  • Light cinnamon scent
What I didn't like:
  • Became somewhat minimally drying after three hours
Where to buy:

  1. Hope you feels better now and recovered well from being sick last week :) Love this red, your lip swatch looks amazing! I still have to grab myself some Karen Murrell lipsticks to try, have heard so much since that popular pink one came out not long ago x
