ColourPop Super Shock Shadow - Cat Nap Swatches & Review

Eeeep - today is the last day to purchase the two charity Super Shock Shadow shades created by ColourPop to benefit the Best Friends Animal Society® and their NKLA effort to Save Them All®! Best Friends make a superhuman effort to rescue and rehome animals in the States and all of the proceeds from the sale of Cat Nap and its sister shade Puppy Love are donated to them. Each eyeshadow is $5USD a pop and as is par for course with ColourPop, they're gorgeous. I bought Cat Nap awhile ago, because cats, so if you've been on the fence about whether to nab it then hopefully this review will be helpful.

Formula overview:
ColourPop's Super Shock Shadows have a malleable consistency like wet clay - should you press a finger into the eyeshadow you'll leave a hollow, it doesn't spring back or cling like a mousse, nor does it resist like a cream or powder. And of course, it's endlessly amusing to prod at! Because of the wetness of the formula, it is important to keep the lid tightly shut to prevent the product drying out. Even so, they have a fairly short official shelf life, with ColourPop advising that their eyeshadows will last three years unopened and a year after being opened. I've now had these for over a year and there appears to be no difference in quality than when I first got them, so it seems ColourPop are being pretty conservative.

Cat Nap is described as an 'icy rose gold drizzled with pink and silver glitter' and has a Metallic finish. This is one of the sheerer Metallics I've used from ColourPop and I find it much more comparable to their Ultra Glitter finish in its payoff and performance. It is buildable but I really had to pack it on the lid and next time I'll likely save myself some trouble and use it as a layering shade. Although I wish it was more opaque, I'm still glad I picked up Cat Nap. The colour and finish are gorgeous and I love that the proceeds of my purchase went to a great charity.

I used White Rabbit on the centre of the lid here, with Static on the outer third, Cat Nap on the inner third and on the inner third of the lower lashline and finally, Peekaboo on the inner corner. I also used the Lorac Pro palette and these lashes from Born Pretty Store.

What I liked:
  • Most shades were easy to apply and blend
  • No fallout
  • Incredibly long-wearing, I experience no creasing or fading with this formula
What I didn't like:
  • Sheer colour payoff
Where to buy:
Have you bought either of the Best Friends/NKLA shades?
