Purchased by me
Good morning, good morning!
I have an absolutely gorgeous, discoball sparkler of an eyeshadow to show you today: Jay-Zed, which originally hails from Australis' AC/ME collection, which was the holiday 2014 release. This eyeshadow formula was so popular that Australis made it permanent renaming them Metallix Eyeshadow and keeping two of the three limited edition colours. Bronzonce sadly didn't make the cut, but Jay Zed and Plum Diddy were joined by four new colours: Lana Del Grey, Guns and Rose Petals, Gold Gaga and Pearl Jammin.
A couple of my friends bought and raved about these when they launched with the AC/ME collection and despite my misgivings - cream eyeshadows and I don't historically have a great time together - I decided to give the shade Jay Zed a whirl. What can I say? I'm a sucker for glittery golds.

The AC/ME eyeshadows come in screwtop black jars which house a disc of sparkly, sparkly goodness. If your first thought looking at this spongey eyeshadow mass is 'Colourpop', mine was too, but this formula is considerably wetter and creamier. Here's what Australis say about the formula:
Swatched on bare skin under daylight bulbs
Jay Zed is a highly reflective antique gold with additional gold and silver sparkle. The sparkle is complex and on the chunky side, making it look as though you have foiled flakies of gold leaf on your eyelids. Absolutely gorgeous, especially for a night out, I just love the effect. The colour pay off is nice and opaque, but the shimmer tends to disappear or migrate as you blend it. My advice would be to apply the rest of your eyeshadow first, then using a finger or flat shader or concealer brush, pat the Metallix eyeshadow on where you want it. Of course with all of that shimmer some fall out isn't unexpected and I did notice a fair bit with this.
Now I have very oily eyelids and this is why cream eyeshadows and I don't typically play well together. As much as I love the way Jay Zed looks, it was no exception. When I wore it alone, it creased within an hour. In these pictures I've applied a primer I know works for me with pretty well every other eyeshadow formula I use (LORAC Behind the Scenes) and I've also applied a matte flesh coloured eyeshadow all over the lid as an additional base. Unfortunately, it still creases on me - this can be seen the third photo down. Sigh. Oh to have normal eyelids! If you do, I'm sure you'll have no problems with Jay Zed but unfortunately we just weren't meant to be.
On the plus side, if you're going for a grungy rock chick look, maybe creased eyeshadow would really compliment that :D
Creasing visible on the inner half of my lid.
What I liked:
- Gorgeous and complex, incredibly sparkly finish
- Opaque colour pay off
- Creases very quickly on me
- Quite a lot of fall out
