Hey lovelies,
I have my first NARS lipstick to show you today! Viva Las Vegas was an impulse buy from a blog sale and I'm sort of up in the air about how I feel about it. I could see from online swatches that it was shimmery, but in person it's a straight up frost. Not eighties level of frost, but undeniably frosty all the same. And frosts and I are not traditionally pals.
The regular line of NARS lipsticks comes in compact rubberized matte black packaging. It appears smaller than a MAC lipstick although it actually contains the same amount of product (3g). As you've probably read in every NARS review ever, the packaging does show marks rather remorselessly so neat freaks beware!
Viva Las Vegas is a warm beige with golden shimmer, described by NARS as 'shimmering champagne'. It has mostly opaque colour coverage with the natural pink of my lips coming through a bit to alter the colour. Although it is frosty, it's not the kind of frost that grabs onto every flaw in your lips and magnifies them; it's actually a very forgiving formula. It applies smoothly and lasts for four hours on me, so not bad at all for a nude. I found it to be mildly drying towards the end of weartime.
I'm really no closer to deciding whether I like this or not! All in all it has a pretty good formula, but.... it's a frost. Hmm. Do you guys have a lipstick finish you struggle to get on board with?
What I liked:
- Wears for four hours
- Applies smoothly without emphasising lip texture
- Mildly drying towards end of weartime
- Mecca Cosmetica (NZ & Australia)
- Sephora (Selected international countries)
- NARS (US - see here for a list of international sites)
- Ebay
- Amazon
