Notoriously Morbid Bewitching Blooms Mystic Mattes Swatches & Review

Notoriously Morbid's Bewitching Blooms collection landed in my hot little hands in February and I've been obsessing over one particular shade from the trio in particular ever since: Hellebore! This collection takes inspiration from beautiful but deadly flowers, so if you're feeling like a bit of a femme fatale, step this way.

Notoriously Morbid Bewitching Blooms Mystic Mattes - Oleander, Hellebore & Datura Swatches & Review

Swatched on bare skin under daylight bulbs

Formula overview:
These liquid mattes are among the easiest I've used to date, with a thin but easy to control formula and great opacity. Most are opaque in one coat, though they can be layered easily if needed and will not clump, streak or stick to themselves. There's no need to keep your lips parted while they dry, as many formulas require, because of the non-tackiness and fairly quick dry-down, yet they never fully set to a transfer resistant state. You'll still get transfer with the Mystic Mattes, although obviously less than a creamy lipstick, and they tend to wear away evenly like a regular lipstick, instead of mostly in the centre, as I often experience with liquid mattes.
Some shades are drying but most are more clingy than anything. I did not experience any feathering or bleeding with any of them, they can be smudged if touched or smeared, but will not otherwise migrate. They have a faintly sweet scent.

The Bewitching Blooms collection was also the introduction of the new Mystic Matte packaging, which looks very swanky and polished! (You can see the old packaging in my previous Mystic Matte post). They went from 4ml to 9ml, with a price increase from $9USD to $12USD. You can also buy them in the new duo packaging, which has two shades of your choosing for $8USD (1.5ml on each side). The full size tube has a long slim doefoot which is shaped like a flattened oval. I found it really easy to work with and did not use a lip brush for these swatches.

Oleander

Oleander is described as a 'vivid, warm pink with gold shimmer'. This sucker is bright! As with the other shimmery Mystic Mattes, to release the shimmer effect you should wait until it is completely set, then press your lips together a few times. Oleander wore for six hours on me and was mildly drying toward the end of wear.

Hellebore is described as a 'deep berry wine'. It's the perfect mixture of mauve and brown, similar to the perennially sold out Jeffree Star Androgyny (which I still need, for uh, blog comparison purposes. Yes.) and I just adore it. Hellebore is incredibly pigmented and lasted six hours on me without being drying.

Datura

Datura is described as a 'dark, smokey purple with very slight shimmer'. It's a dark blue leaning purple with fine blue shimmer and mostly opaque colour pay off. Datura stained my lips hot pink, so you'll want to have a good lip scrub on hand after wearing this! It lasted six hours on me and wasn't drying.
