There's a new way to apply false eyelashes and Sarah Jean are confident that it will rock your world. This Aussie based brand was founded on a desire to make false eyelash application easier, more comfortable and longer lasting. I know so many people who struggle to apply false eyelashes, or are allergic to the latex in many lash adhesives, so I was really intrigued to hear about Sarah Jean!
Pictured above is the three piece kit ($49AUD), which contains everything you need to apply Sarah Jean lashes. Handily, everything is available individually too, or in different product kits which allow you to mix and match lash styles and adhesive colours (black or clear), so you can choose exactly what suits you.
The first product in the kit is the lash applicator tweezers ($17AUD). If you've ever dealt with a lash band that's trying to go every direction except the right one, while you feverishly try to grasp it between too-small tweezers and too-big fingers to coax it into place, you. Need. These. The lash applicator tweezers have a wide, curved clamp which grips the whole of the lash so that you only need to line it up to your eye. It makes the whole process go so much smoother, and I especially like this application method for applying lashes on other people. Just plonk it on the lashline, let it set for a few seconds and you're good to go!
What's this? Eyelash adhesive... with a mascara brush? YES. I can't fathom why no one thought of this sooner! See, I have these stubborn straight lashes, and false eyelashes are typically lovely and curved, which means that despite my best efforts curling and blending in my lashes with mascara, there's always a few lashes that will not play ball. With the Sarah Jean adhesive, you apply the glue to your own eyelashes as if you were applying mascara and then use the tip of the wand to apply a thin layer to the false eyelash band. Then you can apply the lashes immediately - there's no waiting time for the glue to get tacky like you have with latex-based glues - and by having them adhere to your own lashes, there's a far greater are for them to stick to, making them last longer and blend far more effectively with your lashes.
The other great thing about this glue is that it's water based and really easy to remove. If you've ever used a latex-based glue you'll know that there's often stubborn bits of glue left behind on your lashes that can take a bit of effort to remove properly - and carefully, so you don't damage your lashes in the process. The Sarah Jean glue gave me no issues whatsoever. It comes in clear or black and retails for $18AUD.
Of course the centrepiece of the kit are the lashes, which come in five different styles, from the understated but voluminous SJ001 (pictured) to the full blown glamour of SJ005. These are really light and flexible, so they're easy to work with and comfortable to wear for long periods. The SJ001 style is just a little longer than my own lashes and have a slightly criss-crossing design to add some volume. They're perfect for adding a little oomph without making the false eyelashes the main feature. Each set of lashes is $17AUD on their own but if you buy them in the kits and bundles, the cost per pair goes down so they're definitely worth taking a peek at.
These handy instructions are tucked in the packaging of each of the products, which I thought was a great touch. They're easy to follow and provide everything you need to know.
