MeNow Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss - #16 and #26 Swatches & Review

Hey lovelies,

Today I have swatches of some unbelievably cheap lipsticks many people have been going nuts over of late, while others remain more dubious. The MeNow Generation II Long Lasting Lip Glosses can be found on Ebay and Born Pretty Store for just a dollar or so a pop and boast fantastic colour pay off and lasting power.
Sounds great, right? With no ingredient information available for these products however, some people harbor concerns over what the MeNow lipsticks may contain. I'll be the first to admit I don't pay as much attention to cosmetic ingredients list as I probably should, but I can tell you that I have been regularly using various shades of this lipstick formula for many months now without any adverse affects. If you have allergies, sensitivities or other concerns though, it may be best to steer clear.
Still keen? Let's look at swatches!

The MeNow Generation II Long Lasting Lip Glosses come in clear plastic tubes with black satin caps. Inside there is a long doefoot applicator which makes it really easy to apply the lipstick. Given the low price, I'm impressed that the packaging doesn't feel overly cheap; one thing that gives it away is the shade numbers which are poorly adhered stickers on the caps. If you slapped a well known brand name on one of these I don't think you'd suspect the real cost at all.

Swatched on bare skin in natural light

Let's get one thing out of the way, despite the name, these are not gloss. The MeNow Generation II Long Lasting Lip Glosses are creamy liquid lipsticks that dry ultra matte like Lime Crime Velvetines, Australis Velourlips, Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipsticks and so forth. Texture wise they are somewhere between the Lime Crime and Australis iterations, Lime Crime Velvetines are watery in comparison while Australis Velourlips are thicker and almost mousse-like in their consistency. The MeNow lipsticks have a more creamy traditional liquid lipstick feeling (the non matte kind). When you apply them, you don't have to worry about creating perfect lines as quickly as you possibly can, or waiting between layers of colour. They're very forgiving and allow you to take your time to perfect the shape, which I really like - I'm a slow, pedantic applier of lipstick! I'm not so keen on the way they remain slightly tacky during wear but it's tolerable.

#16 is a mauve matte. The colour pay off is gorgeous and it applies smoothly, only picking up a tiny bit of dryness. #16 lasts for seven and a half hours, doesn't migrate, feather or dry out my lips.

#26 is a coral-nude brown (sorry, I'm really not sure what single colour to call this!). It has good colour pay off but was a little more prone to highlighting dry patches than #16. I still really like it though as it such a wearable colour and quite unique in my collection - I would say the closest thing I have is MAC Pander Me (swatched & reviewed here). Again, #26 doesn't migrate, feather or dry out my lips and the wear time was almost as good as I experienced with #16, lasting six hours.

What I liked:
  • Great colour pay off
  • Non drying
  • Doesn't feather or migrate
  • Wear for six-seven and a half hours
  • Cheap as chips!
What I didn't like:
  • No known list of ingredients
  • Highlights dry patches
  • Stays tacky
Where to buy:

Have you tried any of the MeNow liquid lipsticks? What do you think of these?
