Hey lovelies,

Would you believe I only became confident with bronzer in 2014? No matter how much makeup I have, there's always something else to discover. I love that about makeup. I had pale girl fear of bronzer for so long, I thought it was something I'd never be able to wear in a million years without resembling an Oompa-Loompa. Consequently I skipped past the bevy of bronzers released with 2011's Surf Baby collection without a backwards glance and only picked Gold-Go-Lightly up on a whim a few months ago when it popped up cheaply on Trade Me.

I really wasn't a fan of the packaging for this collection when it was released - it triggered flashbacks to that period in the nineties when Hawaiian shirts were in and half of my t-shirts had some kind of hibiscus or surfboard embellishment. Granted, I think I was ten when that style was all the rage, but it's still a fashion choice I'd rather blot from my mind. Over time though, the packaging has grown on me, probably because My Paradise blush and Hibiscus lipstick, both from this collection, are two of my favourite MAC products of all time.

Gold-Go-Lightly is a Careblend powder, which MAC says is 'formulated to provide a smooth, virtually invisible, fresh-looking finish... This soft, cream-like powder is carefully blended to provide the skin with extra care, nourishment and comfort.'
This all translates to a soft, finely milled - but not powdery - super blendable product which sits beautifully on the skin. It has an almost undetectable, skin-like texture. It's a bit of a shame that the bronzing shades aren't permanent, as Gold-Go-Lightly really sells the formula for me! There is a range of finishing powders from Light to Dark Deep, so I may have to investigate one...

Gold-Go-Lightly is a warm light-medium bronze with a satin finish. The colour pay off is great and it blends wonderfully, so it's been in heavy rotation over the past few months. On me, it lasts around eight hours. Worth tracking down if you can find it, and I believe it still is floating around Amazon. Bring this back permanently, MAC!

  1. I totally believe in your bronzer facts mentioned earlier as I feel the same! I've only just started with the whole bronzer thing and now I can't stop buying more and more bronzers even thou I have enough to last me a life time hahah. I don't own anything from the Surf Baby collection, but I love how it looks on you, absolutely gorgeous!
